“My wife and I had been planning our bucket list tripsfor our retirement. I booked 5 separate itineraries over a period of 10 months. All flights wer out of Toulouse going to India and Asia via Germany. The first flights were to be in March 2020. All flights were booked and paid for in full along with seats and baggage etc.
The first flight was cancelled in March due to coronavirus as was the second in June. After multiple contacts with Lufthansa we are still waiting to receive our refunds for these flights. I have been forced to use an independent support site to try to get our refunds.
I am now trying to cancel the rest of these bookings as it now looks likely that we will not be permitted to enter the countries and Lufthansa will not be permitted to fly there even if they had the planes and the staff to do it. Lufthansa have already broken european law by with holding our refunds, they are indifferenty to any stress this has caused, they are also refusing to cancel the remaining flights and are holding on to thousands of pounds of our money when they have already demonstrated that they will not and cannot deliver the services we booked and paid for.
Everyone who travels for there holidays has been affected by this coronavirus, we just happen to have been impacted more than most as we had booked flights with many airlines to fly every month both shorthaul and long haul. None of the airlines or booking companies have performed well regarding refunds and I hope people will remember this when travel restrictions are lifted, never book with any company that stiffs you this time.
We will eventually get our money back, or at least most of it. These companies will never recover the reputation that it took decades to build yet just a few months to destroy. Lufthansa has lost a potentially vary valuable customer forever.”
“Had to cancel a flight due to unforseen circumstances. As per their policy, this was ok and only incurred admin costs. It's now been 4 months. They have told us we only get the extra baggage of £41 and have lost over £350. We tried mastercard as well as contacting them for months, but no luck. Thieves.”
