I explained to Henry that I couldn\u2019t talk on the phone because I\u2019m a full-time caregiver for my mother. Rather than respecting that, he responded with personal insults and condescension.\r\n\r\nAfter politely asking not to be contacted again, Henry sent me a message that was not only unprofessional but outright cruel. He wrote:\r\n\u201cAnd you don't have the guts to pick up the call and say you are not interested. I have dealt with a lot of freebie seekers and broke people like you, so it's nothing new.\u201d\r\n\r\nThis is not just bad customer service\u2014it\u2019s harassment. No one deserves to be spoken to this way, especially when setting clear boundaries. I would strongly caution anyone considering working with Merriam Publishers.
