“I've given them over 2 years of my time. I've done everything to comply. What NACA does is consistently find different ways to deny me of the opportunity of receiving a mortgage. They enjoy charging me money to constantly run "soft pulls" on my credit. They particularly enjoy having me pay annual fees to remain compliant with their demands. And their communication is absolutely atrocious. It takes months to schedule a meeting. They never answer their phones, or emails, unless you spend over a month of consistently calling them. They are the worst run program I have ever had the misfortune of working with.”
“Within 3 weeks I lost everything ( nearly $60.000). This is entirely due to the very incompetent guidance with very little to no experienced people. Telling beautiful stories and finally making you pay. but to report the issue to chelsy desmarais Thankfully, they stepped in, acted professionally, and successfully helped me recover my money. I’m truly grateful for chelsy desmarais assistance and support throughout this difficult situation

“If I could give 0 stars I would. NACA is just as bad as the bank. They have a very catchy slogan and bold print that says no money down and no closing cost to draw you in, but they require the same things that normal banks require. My housing counselor was confused, misinformed, all over the place and every time I talked to her, she added in something new. I’m the type of person that I don’t like to waste my time and so if they would’ve just been honest to begin with, I would not have went through any of their classes. To have nothing on my credit report in the negative, all student loans, credit cards, car payments, paid as agreed and on time and not be qualified is absolutely crazy to me. Not saying that they do see me as a risk but if they did, why didn’t they just put down the extra money when they said no money down. I don’t like the gift of gab because that doesn’t work with me. I want something nice and I’m just going to go somewhere else, but I wish I would’ve known this starting this process in November 2024 because they completely wasted my time. Time is something that we can’t get back. Be CAREFUL fooling with them!!!!!! Explore all of your options because these reviews that I’m reading could be actors that they pay to write them! That is all!”
“NACA, from a sellers perspective, is a complete nightmare. If you are selling a home and get an offer with NACA as the lender I STRONGLY recommend turning it down. They take minimum 60 days to close, their inspectors are horrible to work with, and they continually add items that are needed when not mentioned prior. We are now 30 days beyond the original closing date and have been under contract for 90 days. Absolutely ridiculous and no sense of urgency. Horrible experience all the way around and all parties involved (buyers agent, buyers, and listing agent) feel the same way”
“I currently live in Sacramento CA and am looking to purchase a home in North Dakota. I sent a message to my counselor before out meeting and asked if I'd still be able to get assistance. She said yes (replied via email so I can prove it) and asked about my job, which would remain the same as it is remote. We scheduled my appointment, and I paid my membership dees and fees to pull credit reports. I then took the time off work to attend said appointment. 15 minutes in, she tells me, oh we don't help with homes there. Like what? I already told you before we scheduled this and you said you do! Then we ended our meeting. The next day I reached out to complain and ask why my time was wasted. I was then told she gave me bad information, and that Naca is now moving into the area, and that I could still buy a home. In the next couple of days they told me that I needed to find a home inspector in the area because they aren't familiar with ND. Again , I am in California, so neither am I. After some back and forth, they basically expected me to not only find an inspector, but I'm supposed to get the inspector to attend naca webinars and assist getting them set up with NACA. This is not my job and I don't work for them. The whole thing was a huge waste of time and money. My so called counselor sent me an email asking if I wanted to continue and I said not if I need to get vendors on boarded. She replied with ok good luck. Not helpful and provide bad info. I'll just be using other methods to purchase my home.”
“Our NACA story has been very demoralizing! My husband and I were so excited about NACA at first, because we had a family member to purchase through NACA, and they were so happy. So of course we knew this was going to be right for us also. No! I will say when we went to a workshop everyone was friendly and helpful, but the intimidating experiences began once we started having counseling sessions through zoom with our counselor. She was super RUDE, and NASTY. So nasty behaving that on our last zoom, we ended early and decided we would rather pay closing cost than to put up with her poisoned attitude. HORRIBLE!”
“I thought at first everything was going great. Put my earnest money down 700 for a home inspection. And then come closing The house was way out of my Price range. I am a voucher holder. They Tried using the whole amount to qualify me. Which ended up making it un affordable. And now I am still fighting to get my money back. They made a mistake And now i'm paying for it. After all the hard work in everything I had to do for 2yrs I got NO house an my money taken from me. That I saved forever to be able to do this. It's not right and I want people to be more aware of who they're working with in the programs qualifications.”
“June 13/ 2024 I got a call from Town Hall - Veneka Quick, She said that to became a NACA qualified divorce your husband (recorded) because he doesn’t want buy a house or participate in social media, My Money saved in my account and credit score he just a member. she said that is a policy.
I choose my family b/c family comes first before neighborhood.”
“As a realtor, this was the worst experience I’ve had in my career. NACA was consistently unprofessional and non-communicative throughout the transaction. Their response to every status request and question was "we have our process," while ignoring the legal and binding contract. This disregard created unnecessary stress for both buyer and seller and ultimately cost their client. While I support any program that helps buyers, I cannot support one that adds stress and disrespects the contract as much as NACA. As a top realtor, ethically obligated to act in my clients' best interests, I could ...and would... never recommend any offer involving NACA.”
“I feel like naca of Cleveland did me terribly wrong. They put me in a house that was way beyond my affordability. My first time doing this and it's like nobody had anything , right. I had nothing but a run around trying to close. The hand department was terrible. Then for a home that was never affordable they take my 1000 earnest deposit. An 700 inspection money!!! Already a voucher holder , and you're gonna take from the low income !!!! Definitely.Do your homework before you consider dealing with these people.”
“If I could give negative zero stars I would. Naca has been the WORST home buying experience of my life. I would NEVER promote or referral this company to anyone not even my enemy. Also Bank of America too. You can never get any to call you backs about your account. Counselors steady leaving and understand that, and workload is placed on someone. I got to the finished line. Right when
my renting lease was ending 5/31/24. I was suppose to close 5/28/24, come to find out the appraiser procrastinated and when to appraise the property on 5/28/24. Submit the report or shall I say we had to beg for the report on 6/5/24 although it shows it was completed on 6/3/24. Then given closing date 6/7/24. Then NACA ask for Verification of employment from my PRN Job and it was sent 6/6/24 email to everyone. So then closing date changed to 6/14/24. Let just say my kids and I was homeless. Had to put what we did have into Public Storage. I already ordered our new furniture and appliances, and switched the delivery dates so much the warehouse charging me fees to store items there. So come 6/13/24 I get a notification of where I needed to go or time. I had to do all the calling and emailing leaving multiple voicemails to varies of people to see what was going on. Find out the employment of verification the lender “claimed “ they didn’t receive so I personally sent it AGAIN including everyone on it, because I sent right after my employer sent it because “just in case” this would happened and it did. Therefore it was shows the it was originally sent on the 6/6/24, everyone saw it but the lender 🙄. Now here I am today 6/17/24 still no house. My kids and I rode around all weekend in and out of stores just to beat the heat because we’re HOMELESS. If I would’ve known I wasn’t g closing on the 5/28, 6/7, 6/14 I could’ve renewed my lease and broke it after closing. You would think NACA or Bank Of American cared of the hell they’ve put me and my children through since it state as their motto “Home of Americas Best Mortgage” obviously not. I did rent an Airbnb for the first weeks but those are expensive like hotels in which ran me more then the rent I was paying $1380/mo, and yet I still haven’t closed. I’m missing work due to the fact I have nowhere for my children to go while I work, or no where to laid our heads since we checked out the Airbnb on 6/14/24 @ 10am. Bank manager said it’s going to take another week for them to
reprocess my account with the under writers due to the fact they factor in an “As need” job into my income causing me to be NOT qualified for principle mortgage reduction. My first home I purchased through USDA didn’t required this much paperwork and they let you know everything up front of what you would need. Process took about six month from start to finish I mean application to building your new home. I was told by a coworker to try this NACA program out they’re great 😂. With NACA it’s taking me almost 3 years and I’m still waiting. I stressed so much until I have blood pressure and continuous migraines. I’ve tried to be strong and hold it together for my children and not let them see me break down and failing them as a mother I’m not being able to provider a place for them to stay. How can you not let them. M children sense my hurt, and I continuously apologize from being a failure to them. All I want to do to is start over with a one level home due to the fact I injuried my ankle and could not do the stairs anymore. You would think someone will speed the process up due to special circumstances but I guess not because they sleep comfortably at night in theirs bed at home. I hope this reach Bruce Marks. Sorry to say. I wish I never dealt with this program. My 6 thousand earnest money I put down on is the verge of being lost because Mungo trying to terminate the building agreement bevy of NACa/Bank of America. I went the process of building this house to my family liking. Who can refund my money since it wasn’t my fault? I need help, guidance, and answers. Horrible!!! 😤🤬 I just want my earnest money back. That should be refunded by NACA”
“NACA is not worth the hassle to work with. I tried and tried to get an approval and got the run around even though credit is great, income is great. Go to a local brokerage and get priced out and approved. It takes less time to go with a private mortgage brokerage than it is to spend your quality time with NACA reps. Do yourself a favor and go shopping for a mortgage elsewhere. What a waste of my time and effort to try and get approved with them. Stay Away from NACA”
“NACA takes sometime to process and get qualified for a home loan as it has several members. The program is suppose to support no down payment and no closing costs in order to buy a house. Check it out!”
“Unorganized
And if there’s any issues between contractor and homeowner. Mac’s will not help.
Inspector in my area was not licensed
Un knowledgeable
And didn’t know code”
“I went through the whole program to be told I don't qualify. They pushed me to buy an apartment complex and be a landlord without any education or legal responsibilities for that. Avoid!”
