I am sorry to hear that this happened and am also a little surprised, however this can happen. The stencil is a lattice with so it must be treated with more care than most stencils. We will replace the stencil, but it is absolutely fine for you to tape the existing one and keep using it.

I am sorry that you felt that the stencil was a little thin. We sell this stencil in three thicknesses of mylar 7, 10, and 14 mils. You ordered the thinnest which is our value mylar. We find it very serviceable but perhaps not as durable as the 10 mil which is our most popular grade.
I am sorry that the shipping costs were higher than the stencil but when ordering just a single low-priced product we do not have a product margin to subsidize shipping. Even this small size requires a box, someone to pack it, and a shipping charge. We do offer free shipping on our larger orders but the economics of the shipping force us to do this.
