“I would give zero stars if that were an option. I was charged £39 for a one-month subscription after my trial period, and it has been nothing short of a frustrating experience. The listings are predominantly outdated, with many properties falsely labeled as new listed but its just another re-listed out of date one. This level of service is unacceptable for a company that claims to provide up-to-date information.
Moreover, when it states "private landlord," it’s misleading, as it often refers to agencies. Most listings can be found on Zoopla and Rightmove, which are both free and offer a much better selection and user friendly. Frankly, using Rentola feels like falling victim to a property scam. People are desperate to find rentals, and this service takes advantage of that desperation by advertising properties that are simply not available.”
“Be very aware of this website CON WEBSITE they somehow get you to pay £1 to get details on a property and the next thing u know £35 has come out for a subscription. They room my last £35 out bank and I cancelled subscription 10 mins after money coming put but they would not refund the money even though I won't be getting anything for the £35 I paid. This website is a con.”
“"Beware, everyone. This company is dishonest. I canceled my subscription, but they still withdrew money from my account. Their business practices are unacceptable, and they need to be held accountable. Stay away!"”
“Unseriös, überflüssige Dienstleister, unübersichtliche Website und zunehmend unverschämte Mitarbeiterinnen, vorallem eine gewisse Tina. Kulanz ist ein Fremdwort, ein respektvoller Umgang ebenso.”
““Fucking Scam.I subscribed for trial period of 1 euro even though i cancel it before renewal and got an email of cancellation, i was drawn to 39 euro monthly subscription, now there customer care is not responding to my email.”
“Scam website signs you unknowingly up to a subscription. Have to log on via desktop to unsubscribe suggest you do so and then send this to the customer service (Again difficult to find click contact us at bottom - DO NOT PUT A SECOND EMAIL - they will set up a new subscription on that email.
Dear Rentola Customer Support,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to formally request a full refund of the subscription charges taken from my bank account. At no point did I accept, agree, or authorise any subscription to your services. Additionally, I did not receive any clear communication about being enrolled in a subscription, nor was I informed of any upcoming payments that I would be liable for. This lack of transparency violates UK consumer law.
I would also like to highlight the significant issues I encountered when attempting to cancel the subscription. The mobile version of your website does not allow users to log in or reset passwords it just keeps resending a password reset email and times out when you try to reset the password, which prevented me from accessing my account to cancel the subscription in the same manner it was initiated. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations (2013), businesses are required to provide a clear and straightforward way for customers to cancel subscriptions. The inability to cancel via your mobile site imposes undue obstacles and contradicts both current regulations and proposed government reforms to prevent businesses from making cancellations excessively difficult.
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, you are legally obligated to ensure that terms and conditions are clear and accessible before a contract is entered into. In my case, no such terms were clearly presented or agreed to, particularly on the mobile site. Given these circumstances, I expect an immediate refund of the subscription charges to my bank account.
I have contacted my bank to dispute the transaction under the Continuous Payment Authority (CPA) rules and escalate the matter to Trading Standards and the Financial Ombudsman Service.”
“I applied to so many landlords from Rentola - I gave my email but I never received any response from anyone. I just wonder are these properties really existing and with the prices below the market?? It looks like is a scam!!!”
“Does not give any landlord contacts diverted you some other properties pictures then ,there's a hidden cost of £35 that they take from your account. Which is not mentioned when you pay £1 at the beginning”
“I had an awful experience with Rentola. After signing up for their £1 trial, I quickly realized the site was useless. The property listings were either identical to what you find on free sites or simply unavailable when clicked. Some listings even tried to get you to pay a deposit before even viewing the flat, which is Illegal.
When I attempted to cancel the trial, they made it unnecessarily complicated. I tried cancelling before the renewal and it 'failed to go through'. Despite my efforts to cancel before the renewal, I was still charged £35. Customer support refused to issue a refund, hiding behind their terms, but the whole process felt like a scam.
I highly recommend avoiding Rentola. There are far better, free property websites that don’t trap you with questionable subscription practices.
The fact that this site has so many positive reviews makes me doubt the reliability of Trustpilot, as most of them seem like bots.”
“I was asked to pay £1 before I could contact the landlord which I did but I couldn't contact with the landlord,no place to do that, the link sent to me was not opening and I had to pay for a second time but still the same thing........am not happy about that it looks like fraud to me.how would you ask me to pay and I did then I would still not be able to contact the landlord it's really heartbreaking.”
“Utter scammers. Provided an address for a flat and when I went there the windows were a completely different shape. They also tried to get a £500 deposit before the viewing! Then they charge £35 pm subscription which can only be cancelled on a computer instead of a phone. Pathetic”
“Scammers, If you viewed the details property for £1 you are trapped in fake subscription of £35 per month.
After seeing the review I have lost faith in truspilot, it filled with bots.
Run away the scammers and protect your money. Report to CMA or Resolver immediately.”
“Rentola.fr - disaster, they take you 1€ and then after 7 days charge you 39€, without sending you any email or receipt, nothing takes the money out of your account counting on that that you won't notice and that you will forget to cancel your trial period. If they are taking money from someone for their "service" at least they should have the decency to send a receipt to a client. They do do it, no email, no receipt, nothing. I just noticed when I accidentally checked my account. Deeply disappointed with how they are dealing with customers. They should look at companies like Canva.com - which sends you multiple reminders so you know your trial period expires soon if you don't want to be charged you have plenty of time to cancel your subscription.
Avoid this site, there are plenty of others that are better and free.”
“Wanted to contact a landlord but had to pay a £1 fee which then needed cancelling if you didn’t want to be charged £35 a month. Went to cancel the next day but said had to be 24 hours. Was all very dodgy and unfortunately forgot after the 24 hours and was charged the £35. Tried to get a refund as a gesture of goodwill but was refused. Dont touch this company with a barge pole definite scam!!!”
“I wish I have read these comments before I sign up. It's a scam! After the £1 subscription fee, it took £35 from my account without permission and the properties have nothing to do with their description.”
“This website is a scam, they advertise properties that don't belong to them. Therefore most of the properties are fake.
also they suck you in by charging 2$ to view the ads, but in the fine fine fine lines it says you will get charged 55$ 7 days later, and then good luck getting refunded, beware friends.”
