“Safe Chimney installed my gas fireplace and I had to call them back to check in a gas leak in the equipment they installed that is still under warranty. Had the leak confirmed by NW Natural - the gas company. Technicians are nice but they still have not fixed the leak and seem reluctant to replace the leaking igniter assembly. I am having NW Natural Gas return again as the fireplace when off retains a gas smell. I am hoping that I do not have to hire another company to fix the leak but if I do it will then be on to small claims court to recover my expenses”
“Called to get my chimney cleaned. They told me that they would inspect it first and then the charge would be $299. I had told them I had an older fireplace insert, and that I only burned a couple of times a year, and it had been a few years since I had it cleaned. The time they were supposed to show up they called and told me I would have to reschedule for the next week. When the person showed up, he told me it would be about $500 to clean. I said no so then he told me it was $69 for him to show up, which was never told to me, so I said just clean it for $299 . Then he argued with me telling me that creosote grows in the chimney whether you use it or not. Then after he spent 5 minutes running the wires up and down the chimney, he went inside to vacuum up the soot . I asked him if he was going to remove the stove to vacuum and he said it would all go right down the pipe and into the stove. When he opened the stove there was only a couple of pieces in it, the rest was on top of the damper and the metal piece lining the fireplace. So he told me the charge would be $325. When I looked at my statement it was charged $334. I called 3 times in 2 days before I got to speak to a supervisor he told me they would give me 10% off and would send someone else out to finish the job. It has now been 5 working days and nothing. I now have a chimney that looks like someone sprayed insulation in the bottom of it. This has been a horrible experience, no follow up from them. I just want my chimney clean and it’s only half done. I didn’t want to write a review, but this is my only option right now, since they won’t contact me and the people who answer the phone keep telling me that they will have a supervisor contact me, and I get nothing.”
