“SMC imported two trucks from the USA, they were put into a container with another car suspended above. During the transit the car that was suspended came down and damaged both vehicles. They also lost the door keys for one truck between the USA and the UK. They strongly denied any damage to one truck until I showed them photos of it in their storage facilities in the US (undamaged), although accepting liability I couldn’t get any claim on the insurance I paid because they said the damage was too slight (the roof had been dented). The second truck had the tailgate completely smashed in and try again to get the insurance to pay out was impossible. I eventually gave up, accepted both trucks and made a huge loss on both. I’m angry at myself for not carrying on trying to get these things repaired. They promised at one time to get me a new tailgate from the US saying that it wasn’t a problem and they could just put it on the next shipping container this never happened. Although the price given was for all parts and labour I actually supplied some of the parts myself (at my expense), I was told that I would be refunded that amount for those parts, but never was. I supplied them because I wanted original manufacture parts fitted and not cheap parts.
I would also say that I asked to be shown around their facilities and in hindsight I had noticed that many vehicles there were damaged and I stupidly thought. “why are people importing damaged cars?” , I don’t think they were importing damaged cars, I suspect that they were all damaged in transit but of course I can’t prove that.
Quite honestly, I wouldn't trust SMC to import bubble wrap, please make up your own mind but I will say that I would never use them again.
The two guys that I dealt with we initially full of charm and seemed very professional but when things went wrong, they turned completely. They gave me rude answers to questions when they answered the phone, but most of the time they were not available.

I previously used another shipping company to import a boat on a trailer with no problems at all, and I only used SMC because they were closer to me in Milton Keynes.

- My imported car was stolen (along with several other cars) from SMC "secure facility" on Dec 14th.
- In 8 weeks since I had just one call from SMC…in which they asked for a payment!
- My car failed its IVA test, the car having been with SMC for 2 months to prepare it.
- On arrival in the UK port my car (and cars belonging to my partner) wasn't cleared for over 3 weeks.
- On collection of our cars in Dubai they then sat for 4 weeks in the hot sun without being shipped. When inspected they were baking and covered in sand.
- On collection of the vehicle(s) from my house they lost one registration plate, requiring me to attend a police station for 8 hours to resolve it. SMC did not help or apologize.
The highly trained driver who collected my car…it was in fact his first day at work and I had to load the car for him.
It has now been over 7 months waiting for my car and dealing with Nick and Kingsley. They have been dismissive, rude, and passive aggressive throughout. There is no aspect of this these people or their company that is smooth, professional, or caring in any way.
In the beginning Nick and Kingsley were very helpful, friendly and cooperative.
I was advised by SMC that their insurance will cover the loss. But since then there has been no contact or updates, so now they have a lawsuit.

“Here is the latest update on my 2 cars that are being imported to UK by ShipMyCar:
1. 1978 Toyota FJ-45 shipped from Australia, cleared UK customs October 3rd 2023. That is 198 days ago. Please see photo 1 below. No vehicle inspection report provided by ShipMyCar, no progress on MOT or new vehicle plates.
2. 1982 Toyota FJ-40 shipped from Dubai, arrived ShipMyCar workshop September 25th 2023. That is 206 days ago. Please see photo 2 below. Required some MOT work after failing test September 29th 2023, these repairs were paid for with credit card October 17th 2023. Also told March 4th 2024 that electrical harness needed troubleshooting work, this was approved by me same day please photo 3 below.
