"The bottom line is to beware, as Skoda fit inferior parts to their cars, which will end up costing you more money in the long run. \n\nMy first ever brand new car was a Skoda Scala, however after only 10,000 miles one of the brake discs corroded away so badly that parts of it had flaked off and was causing a very disturbing noise and sensation when braking. \n\nTypically a brake disk will last 50,000 miles, so I naturally assumed that this was a faulty part and wanted Skoda to replace it, which I thought was fair enough. However, they denied it being faulty, which means that if it is only lasting a fifth of its lifespan, it is simply inferior. \n\nI approached my local dealer, whose hands seemed tied and suggested I went straight to the company (even though, to me, they are one and the same), so I approached Skoda UK directly and this is where the fun really began. \n\nAfter a full month, which involved only 3 phonecalls and many many missed deadlines for 'someone will call you back' I eventually was told (by email) that nothing would be done about this issue. \n\nI called them repeatedly to get an update as I felt one emergency stop away from an accident, but nobody called back. It was the worst customer service I have received, probably ever. And I know if they deign to respond we will get the standard Covid boo-hoo response, however this was all during Oct\/Nov 2021 at which point just about every company was back to full strength. \n\nSo, today, after driving around in fear with only 3 working brakes for a month, I got it fixed (for over \u00a3100 less than Skoda quoted) and the garage told me that they have never seen a disk in such a bad condition at this age. \n\nTerrible customer service, a blatant disregard for customer safety and if anything happens to your car outside of the first 6,000 miles, no matter what it is, they couldn't care less. \n\nFirst Skoda, and while the car is fine, I will never by buying one again knowing that they are filling their cars full of sub-standard parts."
