Firstly the outer skin cracked and had to be replaced less than 5 years after installation. Secondly one of the hinges has now broken on my now 8 year old door but solidor have changed the design of hinges and I can't get a replacement. Shocking for a door that cost over £1000 in 2016. Not impressed, would not recommend and will never buy from solidor again.

Solidor supply an excellent door they are way ahead from other manufacturers I looked at. It’s a shame to see negative feedback most issues are down to poor fitting not the product Make sure you review the installer not just the product would be my advice.

I needed a replacement door 2 years after fitting due to poor quality. Finally arranged for this to be fitted however the wrong size door was sent so had to arrange a second date. After several more weeks of chasing Solidor, the second fitting date arrived however once again, the incorrect size door was sent again!! Several more weeks pass and 3rd time lucky, the correct size was sent however there was no door knocker or spyhole provided so my door still isn’t completed. Since then, I have made 12 phone calls which go unanswered, sent countless emails, Facebook messages, Twitter messages, contacted Solidor via their website contact form however I have been completely ignored. This was 3 weeks ago and have now contacted citizen’s advice for support in progressing this as formal action against Solidor. This would be so easily resolved if they only arranged for a spyhole and knocker to be fitted. Before deciding to deal with this company, think very carefully, if you have any issues they will completely ignore customers once they have taken their money and provide no help. I have been very reasonable and polite however this won’t get you anywhere. Avoid like the plague, they will happily take advantage of paying customers.

Awful product quality, so bad I actually left an online review, which I don’t usually do. Multiple problems with the product had to be repaired, some multiple times, and the door design I’ve ended up with is not the one I actually chose and paid for; people can see into my house when they should not be able to, which is both a security issue and a comfort issue, and for the price I’ve paid, that’s completely unacceptable. They eventually replied to my review, outwardly looking to solve the problems for those who read the review, but actually nine months later there has been no progress whatsoever. They had eventually promised to remedy some of the problems, and then just stopped responding to my emails. There’s no way to actually contact them about problems, only for sales. I’ve dealt with multiple people by email, and none are now replying, I’ve also used their online contact form and been ignored, updated the review and been ignored. I’ve never once been anything but reasonable. I just want what I paid for!! Ridiculously bad experience, and ridiculously poor quality of product (at a massive price), which they apparently aren’t willing to try to rectify despite being perfectly reasonable complaints. Just beyond belief.

Two doors bought, both de-laminating. One now very bad after around 6 years. I'm going to have to replace at my own cost - Solidor's 10 year warrantee doesn't apply to door owners, only installers. My door is visible on www.notsosolidor.co.uk

Don't believe the clever marketing. The composite doors from Solidor come at a premium price but that is not reflected in the quality of the product. Doors not glazed properly in the factory so water gets in and swells the timber core. Lock mechs hammered into the slab because the machined holes for the gearboxes are too tight are the two most common production issues in my experience. That can and does result in a shortened life span of the multi-point lock mechanism. There is never a good time for the lock mech to fail, door unlocked and you have a security issue. Door locked and it may well all be scrap. Solidor customer service is atrocious. They will make it difficult to complain and force you to jump through hoops in the hope that you give up and go away. That is if they will deal with you at all which is quite rare. The warranty doesn't belong to the door owner, rather the installer (company or individual). The installer gets the warranty from their supplier which may be Solidor but more likely an intermediary company. You get to find this out later when your slab has split by the mouldings, swollen due to water getting in or has curled and is difficult to lock, draughty or both. I've worked in the double glazing trade for over 30 years (production, service, installation and survey) so hopefully have some idea of what I am doing by now. Hands up, I bought into the product being quality but it quite simply isn't. People keep asking for these doors which are marketed extremely well and it can be awkward trying to dissuade householders from what they think they want. Hopefully these words may go some way to making people think twice and consider other options, there are plenty out there. I have good customers (every single one is a recommend from another customer) that I have supplied and installed Solidor doors for over the last 7 years or so. Warranty issues that Solidor won't entertain means that I can no longer provide this product in good faith. Having to fill cracked door skins with worktop jointing compound (and colour matched silicone in some cases) in an attempt to prevent water ingress because Solidor do a great impression of a slippery eel is not my idea of good customer service. Not for me or my customers. Just to clarify I am a sole trader and do not charge enough to entertain absorbing the cost of replacing the door somewhere down the line. People like myself work for wages only, much the same as every employed person. Things do go wrong, sometimes more than we would like, hiding behind technicalities rather than honouring warranties is not good business practice in the long run. We all need to make a profit but the end user has a right to expect warranties to be honoured. From here on I will be strongly advising all of my customers to avoid Solidor composite doors.
