“My son thoroughly enjoyed the 3D games design camp in August. He is quite an advanced programmer, so the design of the course really suited him, because you can go at our own pace. He finished the five-day course work in 2.5 days and was able to use the remaining time to create a new game with the help of the instructor. The instructor was very knowledgable and engaging.”
“My son had a great time - he learned a lot and really got into drones and enjoyed it. It was his first residential camp away and he had a great experience and made lots of friends. He already said he want to go back next year!”
“My 12yrs old son loved his 5 days residential camp.
It's a pretty unique combination of spending time away while working on a STEM project, I haven't found any other company doing this so hard to compare.
It's quite expensive, though between the full board in individual room and the many tutors around it definitely doesn't feel like a rip off.
The description of the courses is obviously a bit overselling the actual activity. For example my son did "Python AI" which sounds super fancy, but I'm reality all they did was some basic Python coding that used AI libraries. Didn't really go into teaching/understanding those.... Still, I don't think it would have been possible to go beyond that in 5 short days with kids as young as 12, so not holding it against them.”
“My 11 year old son loved it- great training by young university student and he came back thrilled each day. Expensive, but worth it (gadget inventor). Good communication from the experienced professional teacher on site every day too.”
“My son thoroughly enjoyed every day at Tech Camp. He designed and made different items each day, had excellent tutors, made friends with likeminded students, and loved going. The camp was very well organised, and we’ll sign up again next year!”
“Booking the 3D Printing camp was hands down the best thing I’ve ever done for my son. It was a transformational week of being completely immersed in something he’s completely fascinated by and last week he even 3D printed me some birthday presents which were brilliant. He doesn’t normally like being away from home but he couldn’t wait to get away and really loved the freedom and autonomy of the university style accommodation. Reviews of activities and food were all glowing. He’s the envy of his class now he’s back at school.”
“My son has enjoyed this so much that he's been three times. I'll be recommending it to my daughter when she's old enough!
The camp is a great opportunity to learn new tech skills while enjoying the independence of a residential experience.
The classes have fostered a sense of curiosity and technical experimentation, encouraging my son to continue at home.
As a software engineering professional, I'd highly recommend this camp.”
“Robotics was the third Tech Camp that my son has been on (after Gadget Making and 3D printing). He has really enjoyed all of them and I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending them. The courses have been fantastic opportunities for him to learn and try out new skills he wouldn’t otherwise get exposure to.
The course leaders have always been brilliant and the daily pictures and updates are lovely to see. I’m sure he will be back again next year!”
“It can be hard to find things my 13 year old wants to do in the holidays, but he really loves Tech Camp. He's always so excited to show us what he's learned and made at the end, and continues with his projects afterwards. Also, it's catered which reduces the packed lunch burden for me - win all round!”
“The boys had a fun time at Tech Camp. The younger learned through block coding, and the older through line coding. They were able to do the challenges together and against each other. The programme was well organised and structured, introducing increasing level of difficulting in the tasks. The range of students was around 9 to 13yo, mixed gender, and the class size was 6, with 1 instructor. During break times, the children from all the courses had play time together. And at the end of the week we were able to see what was learnt by all the children. The facilities were great, and check in/out was safe and quick. We would be interested in looking at some of the other courses, and hope that they expand to the full selection (only 4 courses are available in Oxford).”
“A really well organised and highly professional camp. The team are knowledgeable and passionate about their subject area. My child was fully engaged in the activities through the week, with the activity having a great blend of practical and computer based learning.”
“The 3D printing course was a great learning experience for my son. Tutors were very helpful, he said. Now that he has learnt the basics, he uses a 3D printer at home, generating various objects. Tech camp was worthwhile because they teach something that parents and school educators cannot teach. Designing 3D objects using a CAD software is something beyond my skill. I thank the Tech Camp team for the precious learning opportunity for my son.”
“I really enjoyed how supporting the tutors were in the courses and the activities during the residential camp were really fun and were a great way to make friends. I feel like I have learned a lot and the camp has been really helpful.”
“The teaching materials and work sessions are well orgnized in a systematic way, and the teacher is so amazing in inspiring children both in coding techniqies and idea to invent new gadgets. A really great week spent in Tech Camp!”
“My son had a wonderful week doing a residential game design course at Tech Camp. I was a bit apprehensive about how he would manage with the residential aspect but he loved every minute of it. Thank you!”
“It was our first time at tech camp this summer for our 12 year old. He was a little apprehensive that it would be 'like school' but he absolutely loved it, always wanted to go and do more work on his game and was really proud to show us and let us play at the end of the week. We will very likely book again next summer - its a professional set up, lovely tutors, great venue (this was in Fulham).”
