The Majority of the £53 I spent on this package was taken up by two ordinary plastic bags and straw packing.would Not recommend again. Not much for the money.

Dear Mark, Thanks for taking the time to give us feedback. First of all, we are sorry that you believe that the value of the product which you put together as a gift, does not meet with your interpretation of the product description. We don’t like to disappoint and try and be as transparent with customers as possible. We certainly wouldn’t like to mislead our customers, so we take your review very seriously. Ultimately we would like to improve where we can, so would like to offer you a a sum of £10 if you can help us understand, with specific details, why our description of the product and respective pictures does not meet your expectations. The items purchased included the default gift bag and mixer options and some of the first miniatures listed in the drop down selection. Of course, we appreciate that it can take time to look through all that is available and sometimes that can be a thorough task in itself. £43.30 was the value of the products chosen, I’d like to point out that is possible to make a cheaper selection with the same no. of gins and mixers, to the value of £35.20 for the medium gift package. Postage is on top of that, as you are aware. With regards to the hamper style wood wool, we pack as much as we need to, to ensure the safe delivery of the glass miniatures without breaking. We apologise if you feel that there was too much in the bag. Where possible and practicable we choose recyclable packaging and products. I’m afraid that the card gift bags do have a laminated surface on them and aren’t currently recyclable but our supplier is looking into changing this option so that the card can be recycled. We hope that people who receive the gift bags might consider reusing them as opposed to throwing them away. Nonetheless, we would like to improve our product description so would really like to hear from you. Kind Regards, Alastair and Bob

The gin I ordered from you - turned up at my address and not that of the intended recipient. I telephoned you 3 times and no one bothered to return my call. I was left with a bottle of gin I didn't want and had to order another bottle (from what turned out to be a much more reliable company, Amazon Pantry) for my friend. Watch out - this is exactly why large companies eventually take over everything.

Hi Nicki, I have just tried to call you, but unfortunately couldn't get through, I have left you an answerphone message and will also try to call you again later. First off - We have issued you with a full refund, including the postage. Your experience is of great concern to me and we have taken a number of actions this morning to ensure this doesn't happen again to a customer: 1. We apologise profusely that you were unable to contact us, nor receive a reply from your answerphone message. Unfortunately we didn't receive a missed call notification nor a voice mail notification from your call - as in it didn't appear on the phone to indicate there was one (!) - I have just called the answerphone, and your two messages are there. (fortunately for us, they are the only two message on our phone). I will be changing this phone today to ensure that when customer leaves us an answerphone message we know we have one. Just to be sure - We didn't receive an email from you either, please let me know if you sent an email because I'd like to know whether we missed this. 2. With regards to your address, I can see that the address we received is the same as your billing address (as per your complaint) - In explanation, I have spoken to our web development team, and they believe perhaps you refreshed the checkout page before going to Paypal and in doing so the "ship to billing address" button was checked, and hence carried through to Paypal and then was given to us upon checkout. This check box should never be ticked as a default option even upon refreshing the page, and we are sorry that this happened with your order. The development team is changing this this morning. As a small business we are always trying to improve and it is only through customers communicating with us that we are able to do so. Thank you for letting us know of your issue, we hope that this response is of some reassurance that we take our customer experiences very seriously indeed. Thanks for helping highlight an issue with our site and phone(!), please have the bottle of gin on us, and if you don't like gin please send on to a gin lover. Kind Regards, Alastair The Gin Box Shop

Aside from giving a due apology and checking on the progress of the order, we let Jane know that we would issue a full refund for the 24hr postage costs (£7.45) as compensation for our courier's error - the parcel was taken to the wrong depot, which is a rare and unfortunate occurrence and thus the delivery of the parcel was delayed until after the weekend. We freely admit than an initial refund error occurred - only £1.50 of the £7.45 postage refund was issued. This was an accounting error, and the balance of this refund was issued as soon as we had this feedback. As a form of compensation for this error we have also informed Jane that we would happily upgrade any further order to 24hr free of charge. Due to the number of parcels we ship we are unable to follow individual shipments, and unfortunately Jane's email was read after the weekend (her email informing us of the issue was sent after office hours on the Friday evening) so disappointingly there was little we could do to speed up the delivery of the package. We have endeavoured to do whatever we can to reinstall customer confidence but unfortunately we haven't received replies to our emails/reviews.co.uk private messages. We sincerely apologise to Jane once again for any inconvenience caused. Alastair Harlow TGBS

Dear Customer, We are sorry to hear your parcel did not arrive when you expected it. However, I have looked up your order and can see that it has been delivered within the specified postage requirements. We received your order at 16:58 on Wednesday 13 September (after our advertised 11am working day cut off period), and thus your order was processed before 11am on Thursday 14th September, with an expected delivery date of Friday 15th October. I can see that your order was delivered and signed for on Friday 15th September, therefore falling within our delivery terms and conditions. Aside from advertising in our header that there is an 11am cut off period, we do also have an estimated delivery date calculator within the checkout section where this predicted Friday delivery date would have been shown when you selected your postage option. I’m sorry but it appears you must have missed both of these items. Please let me know your thoughts on the above as we would like to address this negative feedback in a positive light. Perhaps you would consider replying, and letting us know where we could improve the notice of delivery service. Kind Regards, Alastair

The order arrived quickly which was great and the information on each item was good, but I felt unable to give it as a gift as the presentation of the gin in plastic sachets didn't look very special. Given the cost and that it was sold as a gift box I would have expected a more aesthetically polished product. It reminded me more of hospital supplies! I had anticipated it would arrive in replica miniature bottles is a single box. I ended up spending more money to transfer the contents to miniature bottles and display basket which caused additional inconvenience and cost. Whilst this may have been my error for not reading it closely enough it was very disappointing and I would not consider this as a gift again.

Dear Julie, Thank you for leaving feedback with us. We’re sorry to hear that the item did not present itself as you had expected. We never set out to mislead our customers, and believe we have photographed the product and described the product clearly on our site. We have also chosen to highlight the important information with regards to the sachet vessel, in which we use to ship the premium gins in. It’s a shame that the pictures and description did not suffice in giving you an idea of what the product would look like. The product is designed to be a convenient and affordable gin sampling concept that can fit through one’s letter box - a glass bottle would not, and would also add considerable cost to the product. Although we say it can make a great gift for a gin lover, it is not primarily advertised as such. If you had got in touch shortly after your purchase we would have attempted to rectify the situation, and perhaps send out a selection of other distiller’s miniature bottles (there are a few options available on our site), to the value of your original purchase, and as a replacement upon return of the original items I’m sorry on this occasion you were not happy. Kind Regards, TGBS
