“Beware if you choose to ride this train! For my American travelers who think this is like any other train (like I did), this is the bottom of the barrel train service. Horrible! My wife and I bought 1st class tickets and were assigned rail car #7, almost in the back. The air conditioning went out numerous times in all cabins to the point that people were complaining and getting up to go stand in the middle vestibule area between trains because it was slightly cooler. When I asked about the air, workers would just say “air sometimes yes, sometimes no”. I will NEVER travel this company again. Just horrible all the way around.”
“Trenitalia canceled our trip because the employees took the day off. We had to make other travel arrangements and now Trenitalia has offered a 25% refund for services they refused to provide. Worst travel experience ever! Stay away from this terrible company”
“Nice train service but buying ticket is not easy. I was going to Fumicino Airport from Roma Termini but in Online buying I could not find a clear name for the airport to pick from a long list. Tried to find app to download but could not find any. Found one ticket buying machine where at least 50 people were in the line, everybody was having some difficulty but no staff was around to help. When we stated entering from the gate scan machine was not working. Spent more than one hour on Roma Termini before boarding the train - I was about to miss the flight.”

“Sadly, very difficult to travel with Trenitalia.
They sell tickets for particular services, then you can't hop on as the train is full. Very poor service”
“Terrible. During our first Trenitalia train journey from Rome, we witnessed a Trenitalia ticket puncher berating an older American family who was so soft-spoken and polite. On our way back to Rome, it was we who were berated. Our return Trenitalia ticket puncher quickly realized our purchased tickets were incorrect as the arrival and departure stations were switched. I was mortified and got out my credit card to pay. The Trenitalia ticket puncher started talking loudly about our mistake, loud enough for the entire train to hear. We were the butt of his vitriol. I kept trying to pay, but he continued his tirade for the train, yelling that it would cost us 100 euros each plus the new fare. He even said he would call the police on us. I asked him to please do that, and it seemed I called his bluff. It was a bad experience that will keep us from visiting Italy in the future. P.S.—It was the second screen of the app that reversed the two stations by itself, but I should have triple-checked. And the on-train fine payment is only 60 euros each when paid on the train; the Trenitalia ticket puncher lied to us, saying we must pay 100 euros each.”
