“I want to be honest because I think that’s more helpful than just saying everything was perfect. When I first joined UK Startups, I expected things to move faster. I was eager, stressed about money, and hoping funding would happen almost immediately. There were moments where I felt confused about what step I was on, and at times I wished the instructions were even more simplified or more clearly laid out for someone who had never done this before. I also had to ask a lot of questions early on because I didn’t fully understand how the funding process really works. That said, once I slowed down and actually followed the system properly, I started to see why it’s structured the way it is. This isn’t a “click here and get money” service — it’s a process. Justin helped me clean up my business plan, fix major issues in my financials, and stop applying to programs that were never going to be a fit for me in the first place. That alone probably saved me months of wasted time. After working through everything, I ended up getting approved for £44,000 in grants, including a £24,000 loan that really helped me with the initial cash flow and bills, sort of like having a backup. I genuinely don’t think that would have happened without the expert guidance. What impressed me most was that they didn’t just hand me links — they explained why certain programs made sense and others didn’t. That education alone was huge.
