We were away over christmas which restricted the itinery with regard to visits. The cruise experience was the usual high standards of care and service we expect from Viking. The actual celebration of Christmas was low although we were also not subjected to any enforced jollity. We regularly recommend viking river cruises and are doing one again this summer.

All but one aspect of our Viking Budapest to Nuremberg Danube cruise in 2014 were excellent and exceeded our expectations. The exception was the evening dining experience. We had expected "fine dining" at its best, as had been enjoyed previously on competitor's river cruises, but choice of meat and standard of preparation/cooking on this particular cruise were disappointing. We live in hope and expectation that this was a "blip" as we have booked another Viking cruise for August 2015.

We have now been on four Viking cruises and have another one booked this year, so you can see we are very happy with your cruises and are already thinking about one in 2016. The service, quality of food, excursions everything is brilliant. It is a matter of you get what you pay for. Although more expensive than some you get quality. The one thing which I would say, is when they are talking about offers for future Holidays it always seems to be aimed at the American market, not the UK market, the other slight disappointment is you have introduced an extra fee for using a local airport, which wasn't the case on earlier trips. Otherwise brilliant looking forward to the next one.

we were well looked after and enjoyed our cruise. the only comment I would make was that the variety of food at lunchtime on our Rhone cruise was not as plentiful as our Rhine cruise the previous year. we will be cruising with Viking in august on the Budapest to Bucharest holiday

Very enjoyable cruise, the visits to the Vine Yards and towns were especially good. The only down side to the holiday was often the evening meal came to the table luke- warm. I think this was due to the order being "dished up" and kept "warm" before it was served.

Romantic Danube an excellent cruise with beautiful accommodation delicious food a few of the guides were not too good but it was easy to leave them and do your own thing. All the crew and service were exceptional you were made to feel really special. Unfortunately the same cannot be said of the post stay at the Hilton Hotel the room was dirty the service was bad and despite making complaints to the Viking rep at the hotel and the reception nothing has happened. A posting about the hotel that we put on trip advisor prompted a response from the manager at the Hilton who said he was going to contact us within the next few days but he never did when I phoned him after a few days he said he would get back to us he never has. We passed this information on to friends who had just booked the same trip on our advise and they have subsequently cancelled and booked with another operator. So bad service does have a pay back.

As a Christmas cruise on the Rhine, Christmas week 2014, it was pants...high class pants, but pants just the same. This was the Christmas week, not the week before or the week after, Christmas December the 25th and to their shame, the management seemed to nearly miss this point, failing in the celebration of Christmas almost completely. There were few decorations, 2 Christmas trees, and some tinsel greenery here and there but not much else. On the day the best offering was some singing from the crew wearing Santa hats and a visit from a Santa, being the highlights. No turkey, roast potatoes, Brussels sprouts, or Christmas pudding, completely subjugating the British Christmas entirely. That's not to say the food wasn't great, just not Christmas! What a shame it could, and should have been so much better, our cruise directors finished off Christmas night with the bar being closed and a "classical Music" night, killing what little atmosphere there was stone dead! Shame on you Cruise director! That aside, what Viking Cruises offered overall throughout the week in terms of quality was very, and we say again very good. Excellent food and wines and service second to none. We were suitably impressed, such that we have booked to do the Danube cruise 2015/16 over New Year..... hopefully the Management on the Viking Freya will consider New Year as more of an event to celebrate than Christmas was on the Viking Tor ...

The Danube cruise we went on was a very enjoyable cruise with good company and food. No criticisms to make of the service, staff or accomodation which was all very good.

This was our first Viking cruise (Waterways of the Tsars) and was well up to expectations - so much so that we have already booked one of Viking's sea cruises. We rate the accommodation, food and service very highly. The only thing that prevents us from giving a top rating was that we thought some of the excursions at the stopping points were a bit artificial and forced.
