Bought a washing machine which stained and ripped clothes, Argos say we have to talk to HOTPOINT to be able to return item? (Blatant infringement of returns policy).

They said it could not be returned as it is a digital download but that is not mention in the returns policy.

Had an issue with returns, it appears that Argos don’t have a proper complaint process.

I wasn't concerned because I knew Argos have a 30 day returns policy and have used Argos lots of times before and have on occasion had to return items.

Purchased a Macgregor 32cm 1400w mower on 28/5/21 on 25/7/21 while mowing the lawn noticed grass coming out of the side of the casing on inspection I found the casing (very flimsy) had split over about 300cm so contacted returns at macgregor and got a glib woman who said she would give me a return number to present at the store BUT said I would be wasting my time as it would be regarded as wear and tear not wishing to have a row at my local store I made a temporary fix with gaffer tape to finish this season and will be purchasing a new mower in the new year but it will not be a macregor and definitely not be from Argos this is the second issue I have had with Argos this year after years of shopping with what used to be a trustworthy brand it is sadly no more so will be looking elsewhere in future !

I will never buy challenge again and I will avoid Argos in future as their returns policy is open to their own interpretation and gatekeeping and they accept no responsibility for faults and worse - blame the customer for causing the fault.

When I admitted to myself I'd have to return it I found that on sainsburys branches were taking returns and not the normal one were I bought it.

returns
I purchased a dash cam and when trying to set it up I found that it was faulty (annoying but these things happen) I went online for help and was told on the chat line that it was the manufacturers responsibility for the warranty and not Argos, I then rang the helpline for my local branch (drakehouse sheffield) to listen to the same thing on a recording, the next morning I went to the above branch ready for an argument and the lady that dealt with me was very helpful and offered me a full refund or replacement I chose to replace the item
the moral to this sad affair is do not contact anyone just turn up to the branch and save yourself some hassle
