Do not use this company. Incompetent middle men. Their communication skills are poor, their technical knowledge is poor and their prices are way over the top. These guys use sub contractors to carry out their work, subcontractors who are the knowledgeable, time served engineers. Go direct to the subcontractors, cut out these idiots and have yourself a much more pleasant experience. They don’t seem to realise that people actually talk on site and understand their game. So for context, I work for a principal contractor.. we’ve just finished a project in Hull, but the barriers still aren’t working. Nearly 5 months on. We had 4 barriers that needed installing, barriers direct told us they would send 4 ‘engineers’ (one knowledgable bloke and his labourers) for a day to complete the job. They didn’t even finish one. We paid £3500+VAT for the installation element, that’s £875+VAT per man, for one day and they didn’t finish anything. The reason being is, simply, because they couldn’t have done it especially not in one of their work days anyway (see comments about travel further down). I’ve been in this game long enough now to know how long things take. Now, I agree that two of the barriers couldn’t have been completed because the concrete where it was going to be mounted was still green.. hands up, we’ll own that. But, they didn’t and would have even got that far anyway! Still arguing with them now about a ‘return’ visit and them trying to charge us around £1100+VAT again for said visit to finish off what they started and haven’t finished! You don’t get a response from them from one week to the next, phone calls are always.. “oh they’re unavailable at the moment, I’ll take a message and get them to call you back”..which obviously doesn’t materialise. We even sent somebody to get the parts from their subcontractor that we had paid for but wasn’t left on site, just so we could get some of the sparkies to try and get them working for our client. Finally ended up, begrudgingly, paying them 799+VAT for 2 men (399.50+VAT per man) to come back at the end of this month and finish off, because our sparkies aren’t comfortable setting them up and commissioning them, but bearing in mind our sparkies have finished most of the installation work for them. Oh, and just to let you know, their engineers travel is included in these prices, what I mean is, don’t expect them to get to site for 8 and do a full day.. you’re paying them full whack for travel. they’re from the midlands so be mindful. Avoid this company at all costs. Go direct to proper barrier installers. And to be clear, this is no detriment to their subcontractor, they’re good knowledgable guys, it’s barriers direct that sell you the story but don’t have the first clue about it. Happy to point you in the direction of the right people if you want to drop me a message.. but please, take note.. don’t do it, you’ll regret it.

I ordered 2 arm barriers on the 25th of January 2022 and as from today 07.04.2022 I have still not received delivery and they cant tell me when they will be delivered. I have phoned them repeatedly for the last 3 weeks, just got off the phone again today, they still cant give me a date all ways promising me the manager will phone me which never happens.

Spoke with Kelsey in the customer support dept. I have a Rhino Ornate Retractable Bollard purchased from them 7 years ago. I am very pleased with the purchase, but a rubber section that stops detritis from falling into the ground has degenerated and spoils the easy lift of the bollard. She arranged with the manufacturer, in a couple of hours, to replace this item and send to me in a couple of days, at an acceptable price. Thank you Kelsey for your attention.

Ordered hooped barriers that arrived nicely wrapped only to find the galvanised coating severely damaged by a file or grinder. Requests for return or refund totally ignored, so was a request for them to arrange collection. Items fabricated by 3rd party so address is different to BD. Manufacture said file was used to remove lumps and bumps is absolute rubbish. Legal recourse now through credit card company as courts too busy with Covid

Wanted to purchase a barrier around £100. Rang the sales number and put on hold for ages by a “sales person” if I can’t buy something what chance will I have with after sales. Also tried to order online and failed miserably.

Very disappointed and deeply concerned about the quality of the product. We spent over £1,000 on what was described as a 'heavy duty' bollard for our industrial unit. We recently had a ram-raid at the premises, which you'd think with the bollard in place wouldn't be possible. It turns out the locking mechanism extremely easy to break allowing them to simply lower the bollard down. The response we got from Barriers Direct was that it should be able to 'withstand 5 minutes of tampering'. For the cost and size of the bollard you would hope it couldn't be tampered with at all. A security company local to use took one look at it and said a weak locking mechanism was used. I would strongly urge anyone to think twice about buying from here.

Called through as my payment wasnt working, also wanted to check i had ordered the correct item, couldnt fault the customer service. I was guided through the different products, and it was a good thing i called, as i had nearly ordered the wrong item. Am suitably impressed with the customer service, product knowledge and everything offered to me by Barriers Direct. Would highly recommend.

Failed to Install. One man in a Van turned up as the Barriers Direct Installation Team. Poor guy didn't even have the right equipment for the telescopic retractable bollard. They recommended I call up to get the bollards charged to removable and all of a sudden im hit with reinstallation fees due to no fault of my own. This company is crooked and full of cowboys.

Ordered some foam edge protection. I didn't know what I needed so I called them for advice, the person I spoke to was really helpful and guided me in the right direction. product came the next day. really happy with the service and product.

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, ORDERED SOMETHING AT 10 AM CALLED BACK TO CANCEL ORDER AT 4 PM THE VERY SAME DAY, AS I FOUND IT MUCH CHEAPER FROM ANOTHER COMPANY, SPOKE TO A PERSON FROM THERE ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE TEAM WHO AGREED ON THE PHONE I CAN HAVE A FULL REFUND AS DELIVERY DATE WAS 15DAYS (SO OBVIOUSLY NOTHING HAD BEEN PROCEED AT THAT POINT), THEY ASKED ME TO EMAIL THEM WITH A CONFIRMATION OF THE CANCELLATION, I GOT A RESPONSE EMAIL FROM ANOTHER PERSONNEL WHO SAID ILL BE CHARGED A 25% RESTOCKING FEE WHICH WAS £50!! (SOME HOW THIS WAS A MADE TO ORDER PART SO HOW CAN IT BE RESTOCKED IF IT WERENT STOCKED IN THE FIRST PLACE???) YOU WILL MAKE A HUGE MISTAKE ORDERING FROM THIS PLACE! UNO WHY? BECAUSE NO MATTER HOW GOOD OR BAD A PRODUCT IS CUSTOMER SERVICE IS KEY!

The product is fine But the installation is rubbish, the barriers have come out of their posts and we have been told that we are "misusing" the product Do not use their installers

Experienced problems when ordering online, due to OUR IT system. Called them by phone, processed order promptly, to meet tight deadlines.
