“Purchased a inground pump motor on 2/5/24, installed on March 24th, on May 30th it started making a horrible grinding noise. I called customer service, bad mistake (horrible language issue). I was told I would have to send in the current (bad) pump, let it be inspected, in order to receive a replacement... REALLY!! It is June, pool season. I am now a IN THE SWIM customer. HORRIBLE!!!!!”
“We just bought a Hayward salt system. We have it hooked up and the flow switch is bad. I have 400. Lbs of salt in my pool and the generator isn’t working. I called about exchanging the part. They referred me to Hayward. Hayward said I need to find a local warranty place. I had to call Hayward 3 times because there are no dealers around here that will do the warranty if I didn’t buy it from them. I’m disappointed that Doheny didn’t stand behind the products they sell. I guess we should have paid more and bought it at a local dealer.”
“Buyer beware! Bought a FIlter, Pump combo and had yo return it because it was 1.5hp and I wanted a 1.0 hp. To return it I had to return it to Wisconsin!!!! Eventhough it was shipped from Sout Carolina. I live in Maryland so South Carolina would have been cheaper. They made me return it to Wisconsin. It cost me $120. I have spent over $8000 with them. NEVER AGAIN! NOT ONE PENNY!”
“Pretty much a worthless company, if there was a ZERO, I would rate it so. I ordered a heater via phone order to talk to someone in person. You could tell it was a call center from overseas, and the person was not a pool expert. Any way I ordered, I received a confirmation order of course and a email that it was being processed. I was billed that same day for 1900+ bucks. The next day, the 1900+ draft disappeared from my account pending. I was puzzled and was out of town and thought I would give it a little time to figure itself out. Fast forward 1 week later I called customer service. They said they emailed me and cancelled the order because my IP address didn't match?.... Went through all my email boxes....nothing there of course. I made a phone order, my shipping is the same address as bank???...Told them ok, won't do business with them again.”
“DO NOT BUY DOHENY'S equipment!! I purchased their AG pool vacuum ($329) in April 2022, worked one season and they replaced in March 2023, but cost me $75 to ship the old unit to them. Now in January 2024, you guessed it....vacuum does not work. They said you're only allowed the one replacement, so sorry no more warranty. I'm buying another brand from another company! Will no longer buy my pool chemicals there either!”
“I called Doheny's to get a recommendation on a pool heater. What they didn't mention was that they sold me an obsolete unit no longer in production, that was very old technology that I had to send back. And, of course I had to pay for return shipping. Terrible customer service when there's a problem. Buy from anywhere else!”

“Returned a pool vacuume, tracking number said they received September 9th it is September 19th and still no refund. I called and they told me they were waiting for me to contact them. I was told no refund for some bogus reason, it was never taken out of the box because when I was reading the directions it wouldn't work in my pool, as my pool was to deep. So information in catalog was incorrect, maybe misleading is a better word. Will rethink any further purchases.”
“If you are ordering a pool liner, GO ELSEWHERE. These sales reps drop the ball, don't send you forms they say they will send you, don't answer the phone or respond to emails in a timely manner (or not at all), and always blames, "I get over 200 emails a day" or "you didn't send me such and such" when it's been sent multiple times!!! After giving up on the first sales rep, I'm working with another that I'm about to give up on. They apparently don't get commissions for their sales because there is no interest in my order whatsoever.”
“I have given this company to a of chances. Every single order I have placed one item ships immediately and the rest all back ordered. The dates change once the backorder date comes. Takes months to get my items. I live in NY so only have a small window for pool usage. The last order I have waited over a month. The entire month of august was lost because I didn’t have what I ordered. They also take full payment for the order when placed. There is no refund till the back ordered items ship no they keep it. Then if you want to cancel the order you have to jump through hoops to get a refund. I’m done with this company. Stay far away if you want chems.”
“Purchased 24 bags of super shock in May. Left thick grey sludge on the bottom of the pool and took twice as many bags to increase the chlorine level. I actually poured a bag in a large bucket and the bottom of the bucket was thick with the sludge. Same as what was in the bottom of the pool. Very disappointed with this product and companies responds to my complaint. I called customer service and was told I would receive a call back within 48 hours, it’s been 8 business days and never heard from anyone.”

“Absolutely useless company - SAVE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE AND ORDER ELSEWHERE EVEN IF YOU NEED TO SPEND DOUBLE!!!! They claim they have no departments, they only sell the parts, they don't know how any of them work (so why do you sell them), which means calling if you ahve any issues is useless. Just ordered a filter and pump set & somewhere even though it was a set that was to come with all the set parts they managed to send the wrong size base for the filter and pump to sit on. Can't put anything together bc of this oo and it tool A WEEK just to get it even though if I had ordered 1hrs earlier they claim they could get it to you next day. Then with the correct base the idiot that picks up claims she sends the request to the warehouse - I doubt there is even a separate area and she just doesn't know her job bc for 2 days now no email with the order or delivery just like when I order it took more than a day to confirm. ORDER ELSEWHERE-THEY SUCK!!!!!”
“We took 10 days off to spend time at my daughters house 1800 miles away to help her set up her pool. We ordered by talking to a customer service rep on May 26th to order products. On May 31st we received the wrong products.
(By the way they promise one day delivery on their website) We called immediately and were told the correct order would be sent expedited. On June 2nd after not receiving the product we called and were told somehow that order was rejected and even though they had our phone number and email nobody contacted us to rectify it. We placed the order again on June 2nd and were told we would get it next day and they would email us an order confirmation and tracking number we never received. On calling back we were told because the person placing the order didn’t put our email address in we could not get confirmation or tracking on the order. Well now we have to travel back home and have never received the parts. This is the worst company we have ever worked with and will never order from them again. Since their call center moved to India their company has gone downhill.”
