“There were abrasions and a couple of bend/kinks in the mono top shot. I bought this set up to go to Cedros Island and could not afford any problems so I had to have this replaced. Otherwise everything was smooth. Looking forward to fishing this reel.”

“Had the misfortune of hooking up a really large BFT before learning what everyone else on the boat knew; the hooks are no good for big fish. After 45 minutes the fish came up a few hundred yards from the boat and finished chewing through the hook leader. If you buy them for catching ground fish they are probably OK. For big fish replace the hooks with good hooks having leaders about 3 times as thick. I used OCEAN CAT Assist Hooks from amazon. They cost about $3 each which adds a bit to the jig cost. As I found that this losing fish on the rip-roller is common knowledge I am disappointed in both Mustasd and Melton Hill for selling them. They are quite effective for BFT night-jigging if you replace the hooks.”

Ed, Read your negative review on the Mustad jigs you bought from us. Please note: you're targeting the biggest/baddest tuna in the ocean and you're using a $22 off the shelf mustad jig designed really for bottom fishing, etc. YOU HAVE TO UPGRADE your hooks and rigging...and frankly it's kind of a Known thing here is so cal that ANYONE targeting these fish uses xxxl hooks and rigging so they dont get bit off. The crew should have pointed that out as well if you or your buddies didn't know this going in. In the future, we are happy to offer this as a service if you ask. We have no control over what you buy and how you ultimately use it or your application. It's not advertised or promoted as a BLUEFIN ready jig...blaming us or Mustad for not rigging them correctly is not really fair either when you might be using them for bottom fishing which is the intended use as they come rigged form the factory.
