Hi Karen, the Lavender pillow scent is contained in microcapsules in the cover so it lasts much longer but it reacts to contact to release the scent. If the aroma is too subtle for you then you can simply rub the cover a little for a more intense lavender scent. Hope this helps and we hope you love your pillow.
