“It's a great concept and I liked the parent letter. The token check in system was useful. I found the wall display wasn't used by my students as it was too obvious to grab a red or orange card so shifted them to a more discreet area. Still weren't used there either. I wonder if a digital place for students to click into the different cards would work?”
“The Kit looks fantastic, however I had seen a review saying that it was a bilingual resource and was very keen to use it in a kura kaupapa full immersion setting. Unfortunatly it is all in English and will take a lot of translating.
The letter is the only resource offered in te reo and is ironically the one resource which might have been needed in both English and te reo Māori had this resource been in te reo.
I would love to see resources like this offered in te reo Māori in the future.
Supplying some of the doccuments in editible formats would be helpful. Or removing the language from some of the resources so they are just visual diagrams etc which can then be spoken to by the teachers in any language.
Hopefully this feedback is helpful, there are so many schools/kura who would love to see more truely bilingual resources or specific reo Māori resources for more equitable access to great learning resources!”
“Thank you, the children had great discussions and could relate some artifacts with similar ones they had at home. We shared our learning with the school community at a celebration of learning evening. Parents were well impressed with the children's mini PA they had made with sticks and lego.”
“We were using this kit in conjunction with a Mindfulness series of lessons and a digital daily check in system. Consequently, we did not use all the areas.
If we had not already had these other resources in play the indicator board would have been extremely helpful for students to show us how they were feeling at the end of each lunchtime.”
