Faint aroma initially of sweet honeyed milk, which grows after removing from the packaging to reveal some some toffee notes. Somehow I’m reminded of a toffee apple. First bite is firm but pleasant, with some extra crunchy contrast from the honeycomb pieces. They aren’t studded atop the bar as they are in Love Cocoas’ older honeycomb bar, which makes me feel I’m missing out on something. On tasting… initially sweet, unexpectedly just a tiny bit fruity, perhaps even just slightly acidic. Maybe the toffee apple is still in my mind? As it melts it moves onto the comforting flavour of slightly warmed chocolate milk before releasing its honey notes. It reminds me of something you can make at home with simple, natural ingredients… honey, milk and chocolate. I sit back thinking ‘this feels good for me; like Grandma made me a cup of something before bed’. Next the faintest dash of saltiness pull yous back. Everything tastes fresh and natural and its miles away from other milk chocolate and honeycomb products available on mass. In a nutshell – if you like Crunchie bars, you’ll love it. Not because it tastes like a Crunchie bar… it doesn’t… but because its what you know a Crunchie bar should probably be. Quite simply like a hug in the mouth. Sweet, milky, slightly childishly familiar, yet naughtily adult. The cocoa favour isn’t the most pronounced and it doesn’t linger as long as other bars, but when its there its well executed, strong enough to make you want seconds, but the chocolate is sweet enough to tell you when to stop. A nice bar, and probably my favourite for daily snacking.
