This trip is ideal for the hard core birders that are willing to go through rough seas and challenging zodiac rides to some of the most remote and ecologically different islands off the coast of New Zealand. The ship is fantastic and the crew very professional. The seas were challenging. Having been on other expedition cruises, this one was allowed us off the ship in very challenging conditions. The staff were very good and you had to trust them but they were so reassuring that you knew you were in good hands. The scenery is second to none. Although the birding was mainly pelagic, the sheer numbers and varieties blew my mind. I was actually overwhelmed many times. This trip is expensive but is worth every penny. The guides are truly the best and very happy to help you with any questions you might have. They also gave very informative lectures. The bird list says it all! I had a single superior cabin (530) and it was at least double the size of what I've had on previous cruises (a double room). The meals were good with plenty of options. I cannot remember a bad moment on this cruise!
