I’ve been using a Linn LP12 for 25 yrs and did not think it could be bettered for the money. I recently got the itch to upgrade my system as as I worked piece by piece, the last piece of gear to upgrade was the TT. I did not want to spend an arm and a leg and saw the wonderful video about the VPI Super Prime scout. For the money it seemed like a great deal and from what I read would be an upgrade from the vintage LP12. I had no idea how large a set up this upgrade actually turned out to be. The VPI is dead quiet, expressive, musical and with such lifelike presentation that I regret not making the move sooner. I am using an Ortofon Black cart and though not the most expensive cart, the synergy between the cart, arm and table is fantastic. Some friends said the VPI would be more analytic vs the LP12, I just don’t see it. I am drawn into the music at an emotional level. Finally, I purchased the “blem” model and frankly I have no idea what blem there is. It actually looks like a new TT! If you are in the market for a new TT, I’m not sure that there is a better value out there than this one. Very highly recommended!
