I am very much enjoying the new Core 500 stethoscope — much better than my old Eko which was annoying because it would start to unscrew and then all I could hear was that. I’m actually using it wirelessly without the stethoscope tubing. I am using a compact Bluetooth transmitter which is paired to my Samsung earbuds and I find this is easier than opening the Eko app on my phone anytime I want to use it wirelessly. I like the maneuverability of using just the stethoscope head and not being tethered by the tubing, especially as a pediatrician because my patients tend to try to grab my stethoscope (or drool on it). The sound quality is excellent and the HR and ECG tracing is a little gimmicky but nice to have! I find the mechanism to turn the stethoscope off is a little tricky because it’s not easy to do it one-handed. I don’t think this would be an issue if I was using it with the tubing as it would turn itself off after a little while but with my set up I would still hear it rolling around in my coat pocket as I keep one earbud in. Overall I’m really happy with the stethoscope!
