There was a teething issue initially as water would not quickly drain away, then raising to go above the tray height. When my plumber looked, all we could see was that the trap wasn’t as low as it could be. There were no other issues we could deduce. So he pushed it down further and I tried again twice the next day, happy to report that it resolved the problem. We can’t understand why it should but happily it all functions really well now. Water rapidly drains off from my new, powerful shower, so all is well.
