Bought this mostly for cutting rabbets on gnarly wood (padauk, birdseye maple, purple heart) and it works well. The skew block works well with stock under 18" or so, for larger and wider rabbet I use my old Stanley 78 since it's more robust and is a bigger rabbet plane.
I got this with the pmv-11 since I work mostly with hardwoods and they hold up an edge really well.
