“First time using this product, didn't add enough water so made it harder for myself than it should of been. I read the instructions and followed them, watch the you tube channel and I would of realised the consistency wasn't quite right, having said that, once applied and left for two hours, non grey hair, the results were perfect. So beautiful, great colour and coverage, not toxic smell, natural smell eases after 24 hours but wasn't horrid at all. So very glad we have found these colours, so much more affordable and no side effects, so lovely to use and the results were exactly what we were looking for. Do watch the you tube instructions and save yourself a lot of angst lol. These are my go to from now on. Thank you Desert Shadow.”

“I’ve used this brand during both my pregnancies and the colour is rich and my hair feels silky. My only complaint would be the long prep time as well as the application is a bit tricky as it’s super thick and a little dry. The smell isn’t great but I’ve found if I double shampoo when I wash it out, it’s better. It covered most of my greys (and I have a lot of stubborn greys). Overall, it’s the best natural hair dye I’ve used.”
“At first I wasn't so sure if I should put this on my hair. It really didn't look the best when I mixed it up. But being in isolation I thought I'd give it a go. Best time to experiment. I left it on for 3 hours and I was very impressed with the result.And it covered my silvers too. I think I will be giving my hairdresser a miss, with colouring my hair, from now on. She can just be in charge of cutting it.”
“Once I read through all the instructions it actually was a really easy product to use. My hair feels so much healthy and the coverage is really even. The only downside for me is that the box made me expect at least a little red tint to the brown but on my light brown hair it is now a dark brown without any red undertones. Still a lovely colour though.”
“I wanted to colour over my greys and change up my colour, plus working from home meant I had more time to explore 'organic' options, whereas I would normally go to a salon. Although, I did all those things with desert shadow, i actually enjoyed the 'me' time that went with it more. I took the advice from the pack and wrapped my head in a scarf while it set and just worked from home. I felt like I was in a beautiful cocoon! I enjoyed the process of mixing it myself and adding in the molasses and chamomile Tea. Total win.”
“I really wanted to love this product! The review were excellent, and the product is natural and uses less plastic than other dyes. I didn't find the process too difficult to follow. What I didn't like about it was that the dye has a really strong smell, like extreme matcha tea + seaweed, and because the dye has to be left on for so long I found it really overwhelming, to the point of nausea.
From what I can tell from reviews, my experience my experience seems to be the anomaly. But I would have liked to have known what to expect prior to buying and dyeing. My hair still smells, a week later - although not in a really bad way. The colour was effective, and my hair looks healthy! So if you can accept the smell, then this will be a great product for you.”
