I'm a qualified hair dresser ..after 30years of hairdressing I had to stop As my health was suffering due to the harsh chemicals in hair colours . I went on a search tried many of the Hennah Natural hair colours out there then learnt about indigo (black) Hennah (red) cassia (blonde) Started to mix myself so it would cover grey & not be so orange red. But Desert shadow is By far the best out there!!! -The Honey blonde gives me all that in one Beautiful package !! The beautiful mixture is easy to mix & apply..My teenage daughter loves to mix it & Apply it on & I know it's safe for her too..... My greys are covered .. hair is thicker & So Shining ..My husband loves it .

Easy to use, smells good to me, and the colour is supurb! I have chestnut medium brown hair that's going grey, really enjoying the depth of colour and the different hues, highly recommend!

I have used this colour several times now and have recently ordered more. I have medium brown hair with increasing numbers of grey hairs and it covers well. As it grows out, I don’t get a really strong line of new growth. I won’t use chemical dyes due to a health scare a few years ago and I am very happy with Desert Shadows.

I love this product! My hair is natural strawberry blonde that dulls quickly (in my late 30s). I really wanted a copper to brighten my hair but look natural, took a chance on this. Pros - colour is true copper/red Looks natural No nasty chemicals Feels soo nice on the scalp Sunday spa day - although takes a bit longer to apply/leave in, not nearly as messy as conventional hair dies therefore allowed me to pop on my hair cap and go do some things around the house. Cons - does require a few hours to allow to leave in. Smells different - to me it smelled like herbal tea. It’s not terrible just different and it does stick around a few days. I wash my hair twice a week with hair soap so if you use a scented hair wash may not be noticeable. I have chin length hair, fine but thick so usually go through a full box dye for coverage. I only needed 1/2 the amount I mixed up so i froze the rest. I love the thickness as it goes in my hair, so much easier! I spritzed my hair with water and put my cap on for a few hours and it turned out beautiful!!

Just used this product for the first time. I was daunted by the complex instructions, but after watching F&Fs YouTube guide, decided to crack on. I used the non-grey method so only needed to mix once. I found it relatively easy to apply, just using my hands and working it along my hair, then massaging it in. It smells a bit ‘grassy’ but I didn’t find it overpowering. I love the colour! I have dark brown hair, and the walnut has come out a lovely, natural brown with warm tones. I have a few greys and it seems to have covered them well. I’m just waiting to see how the colour lasts, to make a complete verdict. So far I’m pleasantly surprised with the ease of use and fantastic colour.

I decided to make the switch to chemical-free hair dye at the start of this year after reading some upsetting information about chemical dyes. Desert Shadow is not a quick and easy solution, especially if you need to cover greys, but if you follow the instructions and don't mind letting the dye sit on your head for several hours then it's fantastic! After several dying sessions, every 6 weeks to keep on top of my roots, I have some tips to share... 1. Follow the recommendations for grey hair coverage and pre-dye your roots with one of the red colours first - chocolate shadow colour uptake will be infinitely better. 1. Consider mixing your chocolate shadow powder with black espresso coffee rather than tea, it smells better and seems to give a richer, darker colour. 2. Buy a microwavable heated gel cap - You'll have to take it off and heat it up every 30 minutes but it reduces dyeing time from 3-4 hours to just 2 hours. 3. The colour can be very difficult to rinse out - slather your head with conditioner and massage it through before you even attempt to rinse

I bought it to colour my greys and I didn't want my natural colour to change. I got what I expected, my colour wasn't change and the greys turned into golden brown, which looked quite nice. For some people it will be too much work, but I didn't mind it.
