The Allay Lamp Reviews

4.9 Rating 204 Reviews
I have tried so many products and most haven’t helped at all. The Allay Lamp helps! It works! With 20 migraine days a month finding something that helps is amazing. It lessens the pain and helps lessen other symptoms too. It’s the difference between being functional and not. For migraine sufferers that is HUGE. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

At first I was not sure how to use the Allay Lamp, but after speaking to their team and received guidance I have learned what works best for me. I tend to get migraines before bed, and pain is usually exacerbated by the harsh overhead light I have. I have since replaced using the overhead light with the Allay Lamp, and have definitely felt a difference.

All and all okay - though I definitely am going to go ahead and return this given the price tag for a less than stellar operation

The lamp has had a definite effect on my chronic pain as a result of interstitial cystitis. Not only are my symptoms greatly lessened, but there have been other unexpected results as well. I spend 2 hours every day in a small room where I use black out shades to create a light impenetrable area. While in the room I complete my daily exercise routine, read by my green light, eat breakfast, etc. The unexpected result is the sense of calm that overcomes me within a few minutes of being in the room. It allows me to meditate (with eyes open) and contemplate on issues that usually would be hard to focus on for any length of time. This feeling of calm stays with me for hours after leaving the room. I am convinced this is part of the effect the lamp has on my pain. My physical therapist (who is teaching me how to relax the muscles associated with my bladder) believes the calmness is helping me to relax, which in turn releases the tension from the muscles, which in turn reduces the pain in the bladder. I felt you should know all this, but I would not be at all surprised if you have heard of similar experiences from those who have the lamp. I can’t tell you the change this lamp has made....I am back to walking 3 miles a day and can’t wait to be able to get out and hike when the snow clears! Thank you makers of Allay Lamp....you have given me back my life! Kathy C. Frisco, CO

So far, I have found that it is helpful to use in the morning and night, I usually lay in bed for a little after waking up and it's nice to have a light that doesn't bother my eyes. The same goes for the evening. It is also helpful l when I have a migraine and need to lay down (mostly every day) that I can have the light on dim and take a nap and when I wake up I don't have that awful pain hit back when I open my eyes. It does seem to bring the edge off of the migraine slightly. Which any relief of any kind from migraine pain is extremely welcomed. I also have learned to give my eyes a few minutes to adjust after turning the green lamp off as if I move too quickly into a different light, I get an increase in aura, usually red, but dissipates quickly. Pros: It doesn’t hurt to be in the Allay green light!

I love this lamp. The shade that comes with it is helpful for directing the light. When my eyes are extremely sensitive I need the light to be more diffuse, so the shade keeps it pointed away from me. I appreciate that it starts at the lowest brightness rather than the highest. It allows me to function when light just hurts. I can read. I can sit and have a conversation and see the facial expressions of the person I am talking to. I have also used it to watch TV in the dark. I know the best use is when it is the only source of light in the room, but I often can't watch TV because having the lights on hurts, but not having the lights on the flickering of the TV hurts. I've watched TV with Allay as my light source and was finally able to watch it comfortably.

I'm about to write a bunch of words, but here's the main point: this lamp does what it claims to do. It works. Ok, so now more details. I have Chronic Intractable Migraine. I am in pain 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Light sensitivity is a symptom that really interferes with life. I live in sunglasses indoors. I keep my curtains closed. I jokingly call myself a vampire: light is my enemy. I was incredibly skeptical of the Allay lamp. Even reading the science behind it, I doubted it would help me (the patient who seems to defy all the rules of this illness). So when I saw my jaw fell open the first time I used the lamp, I literally mean it fell open. For the first time in a very, very long time light didn't hurt. I kept switching between the Allay lamp and my standard lamp, flipping the switches on and off saying, "Pain. No pain. Pain. No pain." I was in disbelief even though I was experiencing it with my own eyes. With the touch of a button, this lamp changed my life. I use it daily now. At it's dimmest, it provides comfort in what would otherwise be a dark room. As I brighten it, it provides enough light for daily tasks, at it brightest even providing enough light to read (or find the inevitably dropped pill!). It's super light weight, and operates either by rechargeable battery or USB plug. I love these features. I can easily bring the light with me from room to room. It also comes with a shield that allows you to block half the light. I use the shield on the side facing me and bounce the light of a wall. It helps make the light even easier on your eyes.

The Ally Lamp helps with my tension headaches and migraines, regular light bulbs are so bright they make me squint and that makes the pain worse. With my migraines with auras I get light and sound sensitivity so any light even that of a phone screen causes the pain to intensify. The green is a nice calming color and makes it so if I’m having a headache or a migraine I’m able to see enough to go to the bathroom or grab my Gatorade bottle and not turn the overhead/desk light on. It’s another tool in my migraine warrior tool box! I have survived 12 years of migraines and I suspect another 12 to come. Though medications, tools and tricks help there is no cure for this disease, but having companies who dedicate their time coming up with an item that’s soul purpose is to help make my life easier and have nice personalities while doing it makes a difference. Not only that but it was donated to me, mine to keep, rather it helped me or not and if I left a review or not. Thanks again!
