“Are we just supposed to not wash these pants ever?! This really seems deceptive. It was my first purchase from this brand and I was very excited to find them after the quality at Long Tall Sally seems to have diminished with the sale of that company. These pants were PERFECTION out of the bag. I wore them twice and then washed them EXACTLY as the instructions said. I tried ironing and steaming them as well after reading these reviews. They are skin tight and unwearable. I would really like my money back. Makes me question the company. DO NOT BUY.”

“I loved these pants prior to washing them. Now that I’ve washed them they’re not the same wide leg pants as they’re now fitted. I followed all instructions and hung dry them so that there won’t be any problems. If I could return it I would…don’t recommend purchasing these pants.”

“My 14 year old daughter is 6'1' and finds it difficult to find clothes that are "cool" that fit her well in length. She was THRILLED to receive these pants(2 different colors) as a gift from her grandmother and looked forward to wearing them all summer. Unfortunately, after the first wash, even after following the instructions, both pairs shrunk beyond recognition. Because they were a gift we cannot return. She is so bummed as she really liked the pants before washing.”

“I was so pleased with these... easy, flowy, baggy. They were even almost a tad to long with flats (I wear a 36 inseam). But I was shocked at how the crinkle fabric shrunk in the wash and all of a sudden these pants were skin-tight - esp. since there is sort of slip sown into the top that is a different fabric. I was able to stretch it back with ironing (I think, kind of) but it's hard to do it evenly down the length of each leg so it doesn't end up looking lumpy. So beware, these are not throw in the wash, hang to dry, and wear again. It takes an iron and a bit of work.”

“Do not buy these... They fit perfectly before washing, just like the photo. However after washing they became so distorted that they are unwearable. The length stretched out and the width shrunk a lot (like by half), so now instead of wide leg pants I have tight pants. I followed the washing instructions exactly, cold water, delicates, air dry, lay flat. I am so disappointed, I can't shop here anymore because I can't afford to waste this much money on unpredictable quality. Some of American Tall's products are pretty decent, like the leggings and tights, but not these. Seriously if you really need this style pants you're better off sewing your own.
I wouldn't trust the 5 star reviews because they were probably given before washing.”

“Followed care instructions, washed cold on delicate cycle and the wide leg pants now look like skinny flares. Very disappointing, wish I had seen the other reviews highlighting the same issue, seems like a garment or fabric defect. These cannot be washed! Loved them pre washing, unwearable post wash.”

“Wish I could include a photo. But these shrunk so badly in the wash (I air dried them like the tag says). The length is still fine thanks to them being way too long in the first place, but now they’re these hideous, tight, skinny legged things that don’t even flare anymore. And since they’ve been washed I can’t return, not that I would for store credit anyway. I’ve been disappointed with most of my items from American tall lately.”
