“After having used the "enhanced style" buffer tube for a number of years in piston AR's; I now use them in DI models also. In examining the lower receiver just under the end of a stock buffer tube, I began finding tiny specks of aluminum, which I found to be caused by the bottom of the bolt carrier group (BCG) slightly impacting the inside edge of the buffer tube as they rejoined during cycling. IMHO, that's sloppy manufacturing, and easily solved with an enhanced buffer tube, since the BCG never looses complete contact with the tube, even in battery. A side advantage is the BCG is always "in plane" with the intended path of travel. In other words it does not allow the rear of the BCG to tilt downward when the gas charge impacts the gas key at the top of the assembly.”
