“Shooting handloaded 55 blitzkings, 77 TMK, 73 eldm and 80 eldm, make .6" or better 5 shot groups. 10 shot cadence paced plinking ammo groups yield 3" or less. All from bench rest using bags.
Wouldn't consistently cycle for the first 50 rounds then vioala, now it runs like a top.”
“As with other BA barrels I own, I had high expectations for accuracy with match-grade ammunition. I was not disappointed at all. with 77gr SMK, 69g SMK and 55gr Ballistic Tip all shot under 1MOA. Even bulk PMC and Wolf Gold range day ammo shot ~1.5MOA consistently.
Fitment of the barrel to the receiver is snug, with no wiggle, without being 'hammer' tight. Threading is good and concentric to the bore for an excellent alignment with a thread-on mount for a SiCo Omega.
The only fault I have is the same fault I've had with other Premium and Hanson 223 barrels: They tend to run at the very edge of being undergassed. 55gr bulk ammo will usually cycle the action, however, it will not lock back the bolt on empty (weaker bulk ammo like Armscor will not cycle the action). Gas ports on Hanson and Premium series are quite a bit on the small size. That said, I expect that going in, so I can't knock off stars for that. Given this will be running suppressed 90% of the time, undergassing is not an issue given increased back pressure from being suppressed. (As a note: This is the 5th BA Premium/Hanson series that I've built that runs on the lower side for gas pressure.)”
