If you're cool with early mornings and getting a bit grubby, this tour is epic. We saw Uluru at sunrise, explored Kings Canyon, and slept in swags under a crazy star-filled sky. The group vibe was chill and low-pressure, which I appreciated as a solo traveler. Don’t expect luxury—expect an adventure.

This was the kind of trip that makes you forget your phone exists. No reception, no distractions—just hiking, campfires, and some of the most stunning scenery I've ever seen. Our guide was hilarious but also knew their stuff, which made the long drives actually fun. Bring a fly net. Trust me.

Just got back from this and still dusty and tired but had to say—it was SO worth it. Camped under the stars, climbed around epic landscapes, made some solid friends, and ate way better than I expected. Felt like the real outback experience, not some polished tour thing. Wish I could do it all over again.

Could this trip be any more disappointing? Well… yes and no. Let me explain. We joined this trip hoping to learn more about Aboriginal stories and culture. Our guide, CJ, was absolutely wonderful—kind, passionate, and the one bright spot of the tour. If it weren’t for her, I’d probably be giving this a zero-star review. CJ shared some beautiful stories, but sadly, many were cut short with a polite "we’re not allowed to share more." Of course, I completely respect the desire to keep sacred knowledge protected, but for such a trip, it left us feeling a bit... unsatisfied. Nature? Gorgeous. Absolutely stunning. The hikes? Manageable—if you show up prepared. No proper clothes or shoes? Congratulations—you just signed up for an expensive few days of pain. Speaking of discomfort, we travelled in late May and it was cold enough to make a penguin slightly uncomfortable. And the sleeping arrangements? You get a swag, which is basically a beefed-up sleeping bag, NOT a waterproof tent. If it rains, guess what—you’re the filling in a soggy sandwich. Now… let’s talk about the flies. These little creatures are apparently the tour’s most enthusiastic participants. They will stick to your face like it’s a VIP lounge. Want to drink water, strike a pose, or take a photo? You have roughly five seconds. After that, you’re hosting a fly party on your face. It was really expected to let us know about this, but we heard nothing. So I tell you: bring a damn fly net. Trust me—you’ll look ridiculous, but less ridiculous than when you’re swatting at thin air all day. Also, this is a participation tour. Translation: you’re not a guest—you’re an unpaid intern who paid $750pp for the privilege. You’ll cook, clean, and bond with your patience as it slowly escapes your soul.

Hi Sam, Thanks for the thorough review and we appreciate your candid descriptions. We appreciate that outback experiences may be different to other experiences - but for many travellers that is the experience they came for. Uluru is sometimes cold in May and yes there are flies in the outback. But camping under the stars in a swag, helping cook over a BBQ and coals is exactly the experience many people come for. But we really do appreciate the review and hope you will look back in time and smile at the memories you created.

Our guide was hilarious and knew so much about the area. I booked solo and left with a crew. Highlights? Sunrise at Uluru and cooling off at the Garden of Eden.

The kind of tour that makes you forget about your phone. Long hikes, quiet mornings, and massive views. Kings Canyon totally stole the show for me.

Didn’t think I’d love sleeping in a swag, but it was actually incredible. Campfire dinners, stars overhead, and hiking through epic landscapes—this trip was a full-on reset.
