“Not as rugged as Milford but away from the crowds. Really well organised day but bring your own food as there is not much available except expensive pre paid picnic boxes. Nice snacks on the boat which is very comfortable. Try to get our the front if the wind weather allows otherwise ride the top deck. Slightly expensive but two boats and a bus ride and a full day out.

“We had a wonderful time, and it was excellent value for a full day's experience. The staff were all very friendly, and also very passionate about their work and the environment. They provided some very interesting commentary along the way, and made some stops for photos along the way. The weather was misty, which gave Lake Manapouri and Doubtful Sound a very ethereal quality. We were a little disappointed not to see any dolphins, but other than that it was a really great day out. Having been to Milford Sound twice, Doubtful Sound was definitely worth visiting, especially given its remoteness and lack of commercialisation”
