I just got back from sailing on Avatar, and I’m still thinking about it. Booking the trip was easy, and everything was really well-organized. The crew was great, always making sure we were having a good time. Snorkeling in the reef and lounging on Whitehaven Beach were definitely highlights, but the peacefulness of sailing under the stars at night was something I’ll never forget.

This was easily one of the best tours I’ve ever done. Avatar is such a cool trimaran, and being able to sail right into those turquoise waters of the Whitsundays was incredible. The crew made everything so chill while keeping it fun and informative. I booked this trip on Backpacker Deals, and their process made everything hassle-free. If you’re dreaming of turquoise water and unforgettable sunsets, don’t miss this tour—it’s pure magic.

If I was rating the crew alone, the review would be 5/5. Only reason a star is knocked off is that I felt maybe more could be added to the itinerary. Over the 2 days we did 3 snorkels and one visit to Whitehaven beach - a visit to the beach and a couple snorkels could probably be done over a 1 night stay but perhaps travel time is needed to get to the good locations(?). Aside from this, the skipper Sammy and crew, Toby and Georgia were excellent. The skipper was a real character with great knowledge, an eccentric style, great humour, and gave clear information on board to keep everyone safe and happy. His passion and attitude to being at sea and his ‘enjoy yourself’ lease for life was contagious and definitely enriched the experience. Toby is clearly inheriting a similar attitude and it’s amazing the meals Georgia knocks up in that small kitchen. I would like to thank all the crew for an experience to remember!

Best trip I've ever experienced. Thanks to the crew skipper Max, having 16ppl in total so I got my own bed, good weather and a bunch of amazing humans that became my sailing family. Love it from start to finish!

I did the tour on 15/06 and had the best time with Max, Molly, and Milga! The crew were super chill and nothing felt rushed. Max explained everything well and ensured we got around safely. I loved where we anchored each night as we saw turtles in the morning of one location and dolphins in the evening of the other. We were also close to Whitehaven beach so got to the viewpoint before loads of other tourists did. On the beach we spotted sharks and stingrays which were a personal highlight. The food was tasty and plentiful and the crew made sure everyone was accommodated. I thought the trip was pretty flawless but I can see how others may question the sleeping arrangements. I think you have to remember it’s a small boat that is used for 1-2 night tours and is not a 2 week cruise. I personally loved the boat and especially the large netting for chilling on!

Genuinely the best trip we have been on, Max Carter and Ty are as good of a crew as it gets. Food was amazing and enough for seconds. We had picture perfect weather the entire time and whitehaven beach is one of few times you actually say wow - it is even better in person. The social side of things is group dependent but we had an amazing group and everyone was talking watching sunset/sunrise with beers. My best tip is bring some warm clothes or a blanket and sleep on the nets and watch the stars - it gets freezing cold with the breeze on the night but worth it!
