“I love my new sandals. Since being pregnant, my foot has become really wide and finding nice shoes that fit has been tricky. I was so happy to see that these were adjustable in the width, they fit perfectly and look so nice compared to other wide fit shoes!”
“The sandals look great; like regular sandals that aren't obviously made of rubber. The style is smart, the gold coloured hardware looks good quality, and I like the warm brown Nutshell colourway.
The footbed is a little long, but I don't mind that, as I'm less likely to stub my toe. The contoured footbed feels like a good shape but unfortunately it's pretty firm. I thought it would be made of a softer rubber that has a bit of cushioning but there's very little give. It feels okay just trying out around the house, but it wouldn't be comfortable for me for longer periods of wear, as I require padding under the balls of my feet.
The buckled straps at the back and across foot strap are useful for adjusting the fit, but unfortunately the straps themselves are not that comfortable on the foot. Fine for very short periods of time, but I could tell immediately where they would pinch, rub and cause blisters. Again, the rubber is a firmer material than I had expected, and as soon as my feet got slightly warm and sweaty there was a lot of friction. Note that I really don't have feet that are prone to getting very sweaty, but the rubber isn't breathable so it didn't take much, and I imagine it would be far worse if you do tend to perspire a lot.
I thought about persevering with these, because I really do like the look of them and the idea of a classy looking sandal that would function as fancy flip flops/thongs. But unlike leather I don't think these will give or break in with wear. Since they can't be worn for long periods of time, I may as well just wear flip flops.They are also pretty heavy, so not as good for travelling light as I had anticipated.
Sorry to keep piling on the negative comments, but the added fragrance is unpleasant too. It really fills a room. It has faded somewhat, but when they first arrived, it turned my stomach when I was within a 4-metre radius of the sandals or the pouch they came in.
All-in-all, a great concept that looks good, but doesn't deliver on comfort and practicality. Customer service has been helpful, though, and I'm hoping to have more luck trying out some of the leather Bared sandals.”
