“When there was a special promotion to purchase this cookbook I thought, another cookbook! So glad I took advantage of the promotion! I love to cook and have been cooking for years so I was having trouble wrapping my mind around these changes! But, much to the surprise of my husband and myself we love the recipes! They also allow me to add or take away flavors to make it my own all while following the "diet”
“Over the past 8 weeks, I've been using an anti-fungal protocol to reduce Candida overgrowth (stemming from previous antibiotic use). I already consume mostly veggies + clean animal protein, but wanted to learn more about Donna's approach to optimizing my gut. I cook nearly all of my meals at home, so this review is couched in the experience of an avid cook. Donna's dressing and side recipes are terrific! I keep a jar of dressing in the fridge for the week's salads. Her sides are delicious, and mostly simple.
I agree with her philosophy on grains (non-wheat/glutenous): soak them for much better digestion. Works really well for my family.
As far as personal results, I learned that I do much better when i incorporate starchy veggies daily. Especially at lunch and dinner. Without them, I am fatigued the next day. Also, it's best for me to incorporate sea veggies at lunch, rather than at dinnertime. The iodine stimulates my thyroid, which feels fine if i keep the amount of sea veg small and earlier in the day.
Overall, this is a great reference and cookbook for people who might be "lost" in the kitchen. In a future edition, I'd add more spices/dried herbs to the main meal and side recipes. To me, they are the secret to delicious flavor in a meal, which translates into more happy faces at the dinner table. :)”
“I'm excited about the cookbook, my biggest issue is living in the country and getting all the ingredients is a long process. I am thankful for this cookbook as it will help me to be able to learn healthy meals for my family, healing my gut and hopefully preventing future problems for my kids. I wish I knew when I was younger, what I know now.
