Concept Seating 3150HR and 3152HR Operator 24/7 Chair 550 lbs Rating Reviews

4.1 Rating 25 Reviews
Many of the reviews confused me because, if I'm not mistaken, this is explicitly marketed as a "big and tall" chair. Why someone under 6'1 300 would purchase this chair is beyond me. I am 6'3 and heavy; my legs sit at a perfect 90 degree angle when sitting upright. The actual width is just barely shy of 21" so I wish I would have got the 23". The siding of the chair is hard, so if I spread my legs wide open it does dig in slightly. That is easily mitigated by not sitting like a goblin and keeping my legs comfortably closed. I have been able to sit in the chair for 16-16 hours with zero leg fatigue. No, there is not a waterfall edge, but a waterfall edge is not pictured nor is it marketed so that specific complaint is perplexing. Leaning back in the chair is literally more comfortable than my mattress. While you only have a handful of recline positions, it was more than easy for me to doze off in this chair and feel no crooks or kinks. I splurged on this purchase because if I'm going to get a $2k chair, it's going to feel like it. The leather is supple and has very little odor. I had an issue with the wrong arms being shipped with the chair, but customer service was lightning fast as resolving the issue and I had the swing arms that I purchased within only a few days. The swing arms I've ordered brings me to my only complaint about the chair: they aren't high enough. I gain 4 inches of additional height at the tallest setting; as I am tall, my arms barely rest on the armrest when sitting upright. When I lean back, however, it is quite comfortably at the right height. The thing that impressed me most - aside from customer service replying to me within the hour of contacting them - was the assembly. The chair came in literally five pieces: base, gas piston, seat pan, seat back, and arms. It took less than five minutes from getting it out of the box (caution: heavy!) to assembled, and a big reason for that is because there is an assembly video on YouTube so I knew what tools I needed to break out in advance. With the fall discount, this chair was cheaper than at other sites. I strongly recommend this site, and I strongly recommend this chair.

This Chair hurts my back like you would not believe STEEL CASE much better. 1. My feet never touch floor i'm only 5 foot 8. 2. False advertising on forward tilt MAYBE 1 inch 3. When I pay re-stocking fee will cost me $520.00 on a $2,300.00 4. Chair is built like a tank but they didn't focus on smaller details Should have forward back and tilt, Should be lowered to floor for shorter people average height.

I'm going to take time to write a review as this turned into a costly mistake for me and there isn't much information on high end chairs anywhere. Lets start out with the pros of this chair. -This chair is 100% built extremely well as other people have pointed out. It will probably outlast you, your house, and you will turn it into a heirloom that will be passed down through generations of your family. It very much feels as though it could support 550 pounds. I'm 6'5 and 260, it doesn't groan or buckle in anyway. --To this end, the 7 star base should be standard on every chair. You never have that dead spot when you lean back and it starts lifting off the front wheels. -The EAS suspension feels an awful lot like a mesh chair only with a small layer of padding and normal fabric over the top of it. That's pretty nice. We'll get to why this is good and bad below. -The headrest is adjustable enough that you can get it into the right position. -I got the adjustable task arms and they are everything you think they would be, very nice. Caveat here is the screws to move them in and out are buried under the handles. Now lets get to the main points of why I'm sending this back and it's costing me basically 1/3 the cost of the chair. -The seat IS NOT 21", it's 20" measured from left to right. Maybe they measured it after squishing it down a bit? I don't know. I opted for a 21" instead of the 23" because my old chair is 21" and it's just enough for me, as per my stats earlier. I thought I could save some money, nope. I don't know if that means the 23" is actually 23" or 22. Very disappointed. I was about set on ordering just the bottom and maybe talking to support to get the bigger bottom... but have decided to return it instead for another reason below. --Because the seat is 20" the edges of my thighs can feel the support bars on the side. Once again going back to this being basically a 'mesh' suspension underneath it all, that means you really can feel it if you get too small of a size. --To this end, because of the mesh like suspension you tend to slump towards the center and back of the chair. This caused issues for me. I don't know if the 23" bottom would fix it or not, but that's too expensive to test out and this isn't the main reason why I'm sending it back. --While in the normal upright sitting position for typing, because of the suspension and the back which I will get to in a bit, you tend to 'slip' back into the chair, which then causes you to lean forward. The backrest also leans a tad too far forward in full upright and pushes a bit on your lower back, especially if you've used the lumbar support. This caused me to end up with even worse posture. -The main reason and really the nail in the coffin here is the backrest. I didn't notice this at first, but if you look at pictures, notice how flat it is? Yeah. It's literally flat as a board and while it's highly durable as I mentioned earlier, that basically means it is verrrry firm padding. While you could probably sit in this for prolonged periods of time in a commercial setting and it probably wouldn't be a big deal as you're moving around a lot and not trying to relax, I have a ottoman and use this as a pseudo computer/relaxation chair. I spend a lot of time with my feet up and leaning back. You can really feel how unergonomic the back is after a few hours of doing this. I had some really weird back things start happening I've never had happen before and that's what really tipped the scales for sending it back. --Weirdly enough the height adjustment for the back doesn't seem to remotely matter. I found one of the most comfortable setting for leaning back was at the lowest possible height setting. According to their design for 6'5 at the high end, you would think I should be at the highest setting. Not the case. Also if you try using the lumbar when it's up that far it digs into your upper back. It really feels like they didn't think this out. -I have no idea how someone 5' would sit in this thing and their feet would reach the ground. As another reviewer mentioned, I'm almost on the lowest possible setting for the height adjustment and my feet are flat on the floor. I'm 6'4 once again. -No waterfall front means it's very easy to lose circulation in your legs. Another reason I have a ottoman if I'm not working directly on my computer. -One of the main selling points that made me purchase this was the 'forward tilt'. This is a rare feature only found on a handful of chairs and something relatively new. It's not listed on BTOD, but it's on the Concept Seating website. It looks like a little round knob there. When I received my chair, I found out that they retrofitted apparently the older models and it basically amounts to locking the chair slightly further back. So the 'forward tilt' is just the normal operating position of the chair, and when you turn it off, it turns out you're just locking it at the first position of the 5 locking positions if you lean back. It doesn't remotely lean forward. Basically a checkbox someone made somewhere to make them look competitive with Aerons without a redesign with it in mind. You could actually call it a 'backward forward tilt'. Yeah. I was sad about this, but once again not the big reasons I'm sending it back. -The tensioner for the back is moderate at best. Even on the highest setting it causes very little resistance. I'm nowhere close to the max load capacity for this chair, so I can imagine how little it would do for a bigger guy. For me it barely changed anything. As per other reviewers here, seems like it might have something to do with keeping it from putting too much stress on it internally. But honestly, for the money you're paying this should be fixed. -The grey color on the BTOD and on the Concept Seating website is neither the color, pattern, nor the darkness of the actual grey I received. Maybe it's my monitor, but the patterns in the center even look different. I would call this light grey and wouldn't have purchased it over a black. Not a big deal, but also loss of points there. -The headrest is very hard to pull in and out of the chair and often times wont lock. Takes a lot of retries to get it to lock properly and at the right height. Not that big of the deal, but worth mentioning. -When the chair is tilted all the way back I found out that the back rest leans slightly to the right and the headrest a lot more so. I'm not sure if I could've fixed this by realigning the bolts, but having a very expensive chair I don't want to smudge so it can be sent back I opted not to try and fix it. -The fabric is rougher, but not in a horrible way. I would list this more of neutral, but what you can expect out of high durability fabric. I didn't find it overly abrasive or a detraction from the experience, but worth noting. Summing this all up. If you want to relax in this thing, good luck. Make sure you get the right size seat or it will dig into your thighs. It will also survive a nuclear blast and become a family heirloom. So a lot like grandmas expensive chair no one wants to sit in, but will last forever.

Quality control is poor. The chair's back slips constantly and the headrest gets locked and does not move. Leaning to the right activates the piston control, lowering the chair. I had high hopes for this, especially for something that cost $1900. To make it worse, I've been dealing with BTOD to return it and they are telling me the manufacture lost power. I was told I would hear back from BTOD and that they would "make it right" but I still haven't heard anything. 2 weeks now I've been trying to return this.

The chair is great, but heavy. Using it at my home office because it's to heavy to carry into my work office. Sitting on it is a bit different from other chairs. Feels similar to sitting on a yoga ball as well as your back. I am an accountant and during tax season I sit for long periods. My typical work day is 16 - 18 hours, 7 days a week, with much of that in the chair. There are times when I don't even go to the bathroom for 6hrs. I can finally work without pain or wear out a chair in 3 months. If you have to sit for long periods of time this is the chair you need to get. I now know why this is the number one chair for 911 call centers.
