Refurbished Ameap by BTOD, Black (Steelcase Amia Frame + Leap Seat) Reviews

4.7 Rating 68 Reviews
BTOD's customer service is absolutely best in class. The first chair I received was missing the base and the box was completely destroyed by FedEx on delivery. Jackie from their customer service team was amazing and had a new chair sent 3 days later! Also, the instructions and process for setting up a return pick up were a breeze. Thank you for the 5 star customer service! Now onto the chair... This is the best office chair I have used. The seat and back are both comfortable and big enough for someone that is 6'3" and 220 lbs. I do agree that it can be a little warmer than the mesh chairs I was used to, but that was to be expected.

I agree with the other reviewer below but have to reinforce the con that the backrest on the chair only goes fully reclined or fully upright. There's a tension knob below the seat that doesn't seem to change anything if I'm not mistaken. Other than that and the fabric being not the softest it's a highly comfortable chair for the price.

Since there weren't any reviews for this chair I took a chance after watching a lot of videos by BTOD.com on YouTube and am not disappointed. This chair is a very high quality item "“ I am coming from owning Aeron chairs for the last 18 years and decided I wanted a change because the hard front edge sort of bothered me in some of my sitting positions. The front edge of this chair is a revelation and amazingly comfortable for that 'perching' type of sitting that I do on occasion. The flexing of the edge is great. Pros: - Feels high-end and very sturdy - Flexible front edge of the seat - Adjustable seat bottom allows you to find the right position - The fully-adjustable arms have been great (the Aeron arms were too low for me) - Even though refurbished it looks and feels brand new - Packaging & assembly were very well-done - The seat is firm but the padding makes it pretty comfortable for long days - I am tall and the seat back is high enough to be supportive and the adjustable lumber moves up pretty high as well (the Aeron's did not work for me, too low) Cons: - The fabric is a little scratchy at first (it's summer and I wear shorts on hot days) and after a couple weeks has a little 'matted down' look to the place where my legs are on the seat bottom - The back tilt is either upright or fully reclined (not a problem for me but might be for others so worth mentioning) - It can feel a little warmer if you're used to mesh chairs Overall for the price and quality I recommend this chair "“ I would say this has exceeded my expectations and hope to have it for a long time!

I wanted to LOVE this chair as a researcher and someone who gets lot's of screen time. Sadly, I think this is a case of "you get what you pay for". I own the Akira from Btod and while I did have to replace a seat cushion inside of a year, the Akira is a much better chair IMHO. Here is what I have found to be of issue with this chair; 1) I am 5' 10" and 200lbs and I can slightly feel the seat bottom out, which gives me little confidence it will last the test of time 2) The Akira has a mesh backing and is noce and cool. This chair is very hot on my back and it was noticeable very quickly 3) The Arms rattle and have plenty of play (too much IMHO) 4) The lumber support is iffy at best The good; 1) well it's a chair that is better than a $ Amazon chair I will be returning the chair and consider spending more to get more. Hope this helps
