I tried this amp, it is okay. Was not really up to the job and found it a little harsh, upgraded to the In Phase IPA 601 which is a real amp compared to this baby. I guess you are paying for the name here.

The KTP-445A is a very easily installed amplifier for use with 2005 and newer Alpine Headunits. It is a very simple install: 1. unplug the head unit 2. plug in the KTP-445A(assuming the alpine is already installed) 3. reinstall the head unit That easy. If you dont have an Alpine Headunit, get the KTP-445U, which is universal, and will require some splicing/wiring skills. I have had this installed for about a month now. Here is what I think: The PROS: 1. Ease of installation, seriously, find a small, well ventilated (it gets hot) place to stash it within about 3-4 feet of the headunit. I zip tied it to a wire bundle under the dash 2. Very compact amp, see above. 3. Specs are impressive (for the size), especially compared to some of the competitors. Clear, un-distorted audio for those who don't need to win any competitions. The CONS: 1. For the price, I would expect preamp output compatibility. This only uses your speaker level inputs. There are two plugs, one input (power/ground/speaker/etc), and one output (speaker). It would have been easy to make the speaker level inputs a separate plug and add low level inputs. 2. Due to the above, the volume doesn't get much louder then just the headunit, but it is clearer and less distorted at those higher levels. Overall, 4 out of 5. This is due to how compact the amp is and the ease of install. I probably wouldn't purchase it again, but a day turning wrenches is my favorite kind of day.

If you don't have much space or don't want huge amp's cluttering up your boot this is perfect.

got this to add to the subwoofer amp as I couldn't be bothered installing an amp through the car with all the cables, was unsure as I normally would like to set up the gains myself, am not disappointed at all, sounds fantastic

Bought this to go with the CDE-178bt headunit and have not been dissapointed. I chose this amp as i needed something small, to fit in a 2007 Seat ibiza and wanted something i could mount behind the dash. There wasnt a lot of room and its simple plug and play setup and fair power output meant it looked like the best option. I can safely say it has been an easy unit to install and its compact size has meant it went in behind the dash no issues at all. Good quality sound with stock speakers and the new Focal components installed later. Downsides, only one, it relies on the cars loom for power which is not ideal (dims the headlights and dash, when turned up fairly loud) It would benefit from a separate power cable direct to the battery but that would take away the point and simplicity of installing this amp.
