“My wife, son, and I play at least 10 games a day on this board and we’ve had it for a few weeks now. Best purchase we’ve made in a long time. It’s a great way to spend time as a family and away from screens. The AI help keeps the games pretty even between all three of us, except when my son plays on Master with all of that help telling him the best computer move every time he beats me quickly but it’s good as it keeps him happy to win fast once in a while.”
“I am new to Chess. So far, I love this Chessboard to learn this game. I will outline the things that could be improved:
- At that price point, the board should include a power adapter since it requires one of at least 20 watts
- The tutorials are great, but sometimes the board loses sync with the app.
- The strength of the built-in Chess engine is limited to ELO 1300
- When using the app, you can only use the Stockfish chess engine; no access to other popular chess engines such as Maia. Of course, Stockfish is very good and can go up to ELO 3000
- It is not possible so far, it seems, to load Chess puzzles from LiChess or Chess.com. It is possible to manually load a board position, but you cannot tell Chessup 2, for example, to Mate in X number of moves.
- There are several bugs (or I cannot find how): for example, in history mode, it seems impossible to recreate in sync the game step by step. The sync to board button won't highlight.
- Support for the ChessUp 2 board is very limited on the company's website
In summary, an excellent board to learn but still missing features and buggy for experienced users”
“First I'd like to say I'm really enjoying the Chessup 2. it plays very smoothly and the board and pieces are quite lovely. I am playing more chess and enjoying it more. When friends drop by, I can't get them off it!
The levelling up feature is a game changer. Being able to play friends otb who are 1000 elo higher I starting to make me a better player. The lessons are very helpful as well. I am starting see my blunders before they happen now without the help of the AI and I am improving.
Great product, kudos to the team, and I am looking forward to seeing what new features are in store.
