ChessUp 2 Smart Chess Board Reviews

4.8 Rating 54 Reviews
Super fun to play with. The battery life is decent. The fact that I can play without my phone is nice. Only two areas for improvement the WiFi connection isn’t always the best and sometimes the board searches for a chess match but isn’t properly connected to chess.com so it searches forever unless you restart it. Those issues are fairly rare and the quality of the board makes up for it.

Great product. The only problem i have is that sometimes it takes too long to start a game in chess.com, or it simply doesn't start.

A friend and I get together once a week to play chess and drink coffee. Unfortunately I have only been playing chess a couple years and he has been playing for many. He is always willing to give me advice as we play. I have played several different on line chess games as well as a couple computer chess boards and never actually felt like I was playing or learning. What I began to realize is that with friend teaching me I was really starting to mimic his strategies and playing style. I looked at this board for a while and watched the videos on line like many casual players. I decided to purchase it. I couldn’t be happier with the purchase. I buy a fair amount of gadgets and tech and eventually they never live up to the hype. The board is easy to use, the lessons are great and the bots are fun to play. I have without a doubt been getting better. It’s as close as you can get to playing a game and it feeling like it is an actual game. I purchased the checkers as well and occasionally play against the computer. The magic really lies with how incredibly intuitive the board is. It would be nice to buy an additional board, without the pieces, to have one at work.

There are aspects of this board that I really like. The light guidance for acceptable moves and blunders is helpful for my son to learn. I really enjoyed the training sessions that guide you through different scenarios on the board. Unfortunately the chess.com integration (main reason I purchased the board) has been incredibly flakey. Games are aborted, challenges aren't consistently received/sent. I spent the extra money so that my kids could play against me and their grandpa without having to sit on a screen, and it has been far too unreliable for the money spent. Hoping they make some fixes to the integration with chess.com soon or I will likely be returning it.

It’s an absolute hit at chess meetups. I actually works a lot more smoothly than I expected. Since I’ve been playing with it I’ve really only had one or two hiccups. No regrets with the purchase at all.

Chessup 2 is a perfect chess companion to learn chess and make good progress. Easy to use. The chess.com feature makes it pleasant to use with the chess platform, much more pleasant than on mobile or computer.
