This is a fun activity in Manchester

Just a five-minute walk from Ancoats, discover pottery at the New Dawn Pottery studio in Manchester.

Perfect for complete beginners, this relaxed 2-hour wheel throwing class is the ideal choice if you've always wanted to learn to throw a pot on the wheel in a fun, supportive environment.

Experience the magic of turning a lump of clay into your own handmade piece of art. You'll throw under the guidance of one of our friendly local teachers, who has plenty of tips to share, and you'll come away with the foundational skills for making beautiful pots on the wheel.

Beyond the new skill, there's the calm — wheel throwing is genuinely meditative, and two hours of it is a proper reset. Step into this warm and welcoming studio and leave with your own handmade pottery.

There's space for 8 people per class, so everyone gets their own wheel and individual attention. It's ideal for date nights, birthdays, friends, or coming on your own to try something new in Manchester.

At the end of the session, choose your favourite pieces to be glazed and fired in our kiln for £7.50 each, with a wide range of glaze colours to pick from. Finished ceramics are food-safe and usually ready to collect within 4-6 weeks. We can post them to you if you can't get back to the studio.

Please note
- Please arrive on time — if you're late you may miss the demo.
- No liability is accepted for misuse of the studio space.

“Fantastic experience learning how to make a pot. Learnt the basic techniques and produced three masterpieces! Dulce was a fabulous teacher, very patient ans hands on when required. Top tip, don't drive, take the tram. Paking is very limited and I got a ticket! Didn't spoil the day, it was a brilliant experience.”

“Our teacher was excellent, attentive, and good at explaining how to use the potters wheel. We went for the single pottery wheel starter class, but are now considering the 6-week course!”

“It was a bit hard to find the place but once that was sorted it was really great. The instructions were well given and the instructor was nice and helpful. We managed to make a few pots from which we could choose the best to take home when it's ready.”
