This is a fun activity in Shoreditch, London

This introductory beginner's glass workshop in London is specially designed for absolute beginners with no prior experience in lampworking glass. It's the ideal activity to learn how to create your own stunning glass flowers without feeling overwhelmed.

Through careful observation and teaching, we have found that starting with the Mini Flower Set is the perfect way to begin. This approach allows you to get hands-on straight away and successfully create beautiful pieces. In this workshop, you will learn how to make mini flowers, which have 3-5 petals that are lightly pressed, or small flowers, where each petal is pressed multiple times for added detail. To ensure a high success rate, each flower is limited to a maximum of 5 petals.

You can choose a workshop duration that suits your schedule:

- 1.5-hour workshop: Create a mini set of 2-3 flowers or a small set of 2 flowers.
- 2-hour workshop: Create a mini set of 3-4 flowers or a small set of 2-3 flowers.
- 3-hour workshop: Create a mini set of 5+ flowers or a small set of 4+ flowers.

For those interested in creating more intricate designs, we recommend joining our Improver Beginner Workshop after this introductory session.

You will leave with a gorgeous collection of your very own handcrafted glass flowers and a wonderful sense of achievement from mastering this mesmerising art form.

Great class! It felt really difficult at first but we both managed to make some nice flowers. Could happily have stayed for double the time making more

I really enjoyed this workshop! It's a pretty unique experience, and not something I'd have been able to do at home. The workshop was more casual than I expected – it was more like a rolling workshop within a gallery space, with individuals and small groups arriving at their allotted times, rather than something where everyone arrives all at once and receives instruction en masse – but I quite liked that because it meant everything was explained to me one-on-one, rather than me straining to see/hear past a crowd, and I didn't feel rushed or like I was competing with others for the instructors' attention. There were a few people available to help when I had questions or needed help – which happened quite a bit. I've tried a lot of different crafts, but this was quite a challenging one! Working with hot glass isn't something you're going to totally master in 90 minutes. Another attendee managed to make four flowers in their session while I only made two, so the number of flowers you'll make is pretty variable, but I enjoyed experimenting a bit with mine. I'm happy to recommend this class. My main tip would be for people who wear glasses. You do have to wear some provided tinted safety goggles for this activity – not just because of the hot glass and such, but because you're staring at a white-hot flame for over an hour. I was able to awkwardly put my glasses over the top of these, but I did wish I'd worn my contact lenses. It's not the end of the world if you only have glasses, but if you can wear contacts, I'd advise it – it'll just be more convenient and comfortable. Also, you might want to take a small box along to transport your flowers home in. The staff do carefully wrap them in soft packig material and paper, which is pretty protective and worked out fine for me, but I was worried about accidentally crushing them on the way home.

Recieved wonderful instructions from teacher Yao and assistant Izu. After these instructions we were allowed to work on our flowers at individual workbenches. It was surprising how effortlessly you are able to create simple glass flowers, and with some more effort a bit more complex ones. In the end we were able to take something beautiful home.
