This is a fun activity in Bristol

If you've ever wanted to learn the basics of wheel-thrown pottery, this fun and relaxing taster session at Terra Cafe in Bristol is the perfect place to start. It's an ideal activity for anyone who is curious about pottery and loves the idea of creating something unique and beautiful from clay.

This workshop is designed specifically for beginners. You'll be guided by a friendly and experienced instructor who will show you how to centre, shape, and form your own cylinders and bowls. With a small class size of only four people, you will receive plenty of one-to-one support and guidance throughout the two-hour session.

You will learn the fundamental skills of throwing on a pottery wheel and experience the unique, mindful process of working with clay. At the end of the class, you can choose your favourite pieces to be fired and glazed, ready for you to collect 6 weeks later.

You'll leave this session with a sense of achievement and a newfound appreciation for the craft, having been personally guided through the rewarding process of making your very first pot.

Something unique about our space is we also sell lovely speciality coffee & matcha, so whilst you watch your instructors demo you can indulge in a lovely coffee and treat if you like!

*Please note for a one-on-one private throwing class we can only teach these during weekdays (not evenings or weekends). The public class is for 11+ please book private class for 7-10 years old.

Gabby the teacher was amazing, very kind, incredibly helpful. Her approach was to be hands off to let you experiment and get a feel for the throwing, but always there to help suggest corrections and jump in if needed. Highly recommend. Coffee and tea were also fantastic.

Tutor was excellent, very helpful and the right amount of hands on/hands off. I was surprised that the bowls I made weren't too bad! You can easily make three pots/bowls in the time which feels good value.
