This is a fun activity in Bristol

If you've ever wanted to learn the basics of wheel-thrown pottery, this fun and relaxing taster session at Terra Cafe in Bristol is the perfect place to start. It's an ideal activity for anyone who is curious about pottery and loves the idea of creating something unique and beautiful from clay.

This workshop is designed specifically for beginners. You'll be guided by a friendly and experienced instructor who will show you how to centre, shape, and form your own cylinders and bowls. With a small class size of only four people, you will receive plenty of one-to-one support and guidance throughout the two-hour session.

You will learn the fundamental skills of throwing on a pottery wheel and experience the unique, mindful process of working with clay. At the end of the class, you can choose your favourite pieces to be fired and glazed, ready for you to collect 6 weeks later.

You'll leave this session with a sense of achievement and a newfound appreciation for the craft, having been personally guided through the rewarding process of making your very first pot.

Something unique about our space is we also sell lovely speciality coffee & matcha, so whilst you watch your instructors demo you can indulge in a lovely coffee and treat if you like!

*Please note for a one-on-one private throwing class we can only teach these during weekdays (not evenings or weekends). The public class is for 11+ please book private class for 7-10 years old.

We had an amazing teacher, she gave a wonderful demonstration and was great at explaining mistakes that we made. It was a very fun experience and I am very happy with the things I made in the end.

I loved this class - the pace, the step by step guidance and the general vibe of the studio and cafe. I can't wait to come back! Also, highly recommend the courgette sourdough toastie for an after-workshop lunch :)

Had a private lesson and it was great. Explained in a clear way and I completely lost all concept of time learning to throw. Would highly recommend and I'll be back for a glazing session soon. Loved how the coffee cups were made in house by the team

Super fun class perfect for beginners! Gabby goes through how to throw on a wheel step by step and is there to guide should anything go wrong. Really good value for money I came away with 4 pots that I'll go back and glaze in a few weeks! The classes are super small too so you get the attention you may need as well as it generally being a more relaxing environment, definitely reccomend and will be coming back again!!
