Sounds like there is something going on at that backplate location.
The Motion Sensor can only be in locations where one switch controls the light.
If the location is single pole, then we want to make sure the wiring is right. If there's a missing neutral wire, the Simple Motion Sensor switch will remain in the on/off position it was in when inserted, and the main button won't work.
If there is swapped hot-in/load, then the switch will work for a few times, then die because it ran out of charge that it's supposed to be getting if the wires were correct.
Hope that helps!
“We have motion sensor switches in our pantry and recently in our bedroom closet. We forgot to turn off the closet switch quite often. Installation could be clearer, as the "test" option is also a 30 second timer if no motion is detected. This is the one we prefer vs. the other timer options. The instructions don't specify this setting as an option, even though it is. Would be nice if the instructions listed 3 options instead of 2. Otherwise set up is easy. Price is high at around $50 US.”
Thanks for the four stars! We’re glad the motion sensor switches are working well for you, and we appreciate your note about the installation details. Your feedback helps us improve the instructions and clarify the test/timer option.
“I recently moved into a new DR Horton home and found that it was fitted with this system, I am currently going through the house changing and customizing the switches.
This is by far the best new home game changer in a long time, it is so quick and easy to change out the switches.
Thanks and keep up the good work”

“I replaced the on off switch with the motion Sensor switch in our Garage. It works very well and we have no complaints on the operation. Our garage has no windows therefore it turns the light on every time we go into our garage. LOVE IT!!!”
