“Picked up the LightRanger 800 as a lighter, cheaper option to go with our LightRanger 1200 for a work trailer we keep out at a job site with no power hookup. It's smaller, a pound lighter, and runs about $20 to $30 less, so if you don't need the full spread of the 1200 this one makes more sense.
At 800 lumens it still covers a solid 40 foot circle once it's up on the pole, plenty for a work area or a smaller campsite. It only goes up to 8 feet instead of 9, but honestly you can't really tell the difference once it's set up. Same idea as the bigger models, the light comes from up high instead of sitting at eye level blinding you every time you look over at it.
Charging is where it falls behind a bit. It takes a full 4 hours to charge compared to how fast the 1200 juices up. Not a huge deal, just something to plan around if you need it topped off quick. Runtime is good though, about 3 hours on max and 30 hours if you dim it down, and the battery works as a power bank too if your phone's dying.
Build quality feels the same as the 1200. Aluminum pole, quick release clasps, and it's held up fine in the rain so the waterproofing seems legit. Packs down small enough to toss in a truck bed toolbox or gear closet without thinking twice.
If you don't need to light up a massive area and just want something dependable without paying flagship price, the 800 gets the job done. Nothing flashy about it, it just works.”
