This is a great tour giving a well-rounded introduction to the different environments and geography of Newfoundland and the various birds and wildlife that live in this variety of habitats. The tour guides, Rick Szabo and Tim Arthur were excellent, very knowledgeable. flexible, patient, kind and entertaining.

This was my first Eagle-Eye tour and with all new experiences, you’re not sure what to expect. And you worry a little about spending considerable time with a group of people with whom you’re not familiar. Well, I can honestly say that my first time was very enjoyable. The guides (Tim and Rick) were knowledgeable, supportive and both had a great sense of humour. And all of us in the birding group enjoyed each other’s company as far as I could tell. From St. John’s, Atlantic Puffin, Northern Gannet, Black Guillemot to Gros Morne NP, White-winged Crossbill, Harlequin Duck and Swainson’s Thrush, it was one of the most enjoyable experiences of my birding life.

Well organized and the tour was designed to cover most of the birding hot spots. Accommodations were comfortable, and situated to avoid long drives. Unfortunately NL has not yet evolved to accommodate different dietary needs, so for myself, being a vegetarian, meals were sometimes an issue That said, the guides did their best with the limitations they were presented with. The tour included important historical and geographical highlights in NL, which were seamlessly incorporated with birding, making for a varied experience All in all a memorable 12 days.

I loved this tour! Our guides, Mitch & Sarah, did a fantastic job spotting birds, mammals and other creatures of the forest plus they were fun! Everyone appreciated their efforts to find the rare Steller’s Sea-Eagle. The Short-eared Owl was one of many sights along the drive through Newfoundland. Highlights: the breeding colonies, spectacular & diverse scenery, and a wonderful group of new & experienced birders to share the journey made it extra special.
