Jan 14 - 28, 2026 | Experience Mexico birding at its best! From the highlands in Oaxaca, to the Pacific Slope around Huatulco, and the Gulf Slope rain forests in Chiapas, we will experience an exciting diversity of birds with over 40 endemic species, including Rosita's Bunting and range-restricted species such as Nava’s Wren. Our tour culminates at the outstanding Mayan archaeological site of Palenque.

Excellent tour, well organized and extensive. It combined serious and intense birding with chances to see archeological sites and as well as demonstrations of indigenous craft. It covered a lot of different habitats from sea shore to cloud forest all of which was very interesting. I am left with a sense of southern Mexico landscape, indigenous culture and the experience of seeing many 'new to me' bird species in a variety of habitats.

Excellent, knowledgeable guides. Not only phenomenal hearing of bird calls, but bionic eyes picking out birds in the far distance. They kept working even though one had covid, and the other had diarrhea. Each guide were proficient in using their scopes to let us see more detailed images of birds. They tried to always insure everyone saw the target birds. The group size of 11 was perfect. More would have been too many scrambling for a peek. Hecktor and Olivier were excellent.

Although some days had a long drive, the end results were worth it; every day new habitats with interesting birds, butterflies and always a super menu to choose from after a long day!

Very interesting. An excellent guide and driver. As a novice birder surrounded by 5 experts it was at times a bit overwhelming. However they were very patient and i hope i shall be able to see some of their photos as unfortunately my own device for pics was stolen in Oaxaca. It was my 1st trip with E. E. I'm happy that i joined the tour. The only thing i would have found useful would be a more detailed explanation at the start of every day as to our itinerary. The only accommodation/food i found unsatisfactory was in Palenque. Arriega food the best. A simple place but v friendly

Southern Mexico was an amazingly birdy trip with Hector, our favorite guide, but also quite strenuous. Hector responded to our willingness to bird early, all day without a break , and even into the evening (one participant was especially demanding). Hector really earned his salary, and the rest of us really got our money’s worth. My wife and I are not getting any younger, and this tour just about did us in. So, participants should be prepared for many new birds, including an exceptional number of endemics and near-endemics (Mexico and bordering areas of Guatemala) but don’t expect to relax much!

We had a fabulous guide, Hecto Gomez da Silva. Days began before dawn and every moment of daylight was employed looking for birds. Hector took care of us, guiding us to wonderful meals and accommodations along the way. He was very familiar with the locations we visited, even getting local guides he knew to connect us with endemic birds and got us to our hotel in San Cristobal when dozens of striking taxi drivers had blocked the highway to town. I highly recommend this tour. If you are serious about finding birds, Eagle Eye Tours will Point you the way.

Hector was an outstanding trip leader. Not only was the birding outstanding, but we enjoyed a grand tour of S Mexico culture and geography. Great food and excellent field breakfasts provided by our driver Jorge.
